Handling just as well in an urban environment as cross-country, our MFM reviewer found that ' the three wheels make for a smooth ride. It's compact, so great for throwing in the back of the car, and if you want to make it even smaller, the wheels come off easily. Very comfy for baby too with its 4-position ergonomic seat that adjusts from flat for newborn to upright for a toddler.

Weighing in at just 7.6kg, the Baby Jogger City Mini is a lightweight 3-wheeler buggy.

It’s easy to fold to a virtually flat position, with just one hand required to activate the quick-fold system. It's also travel system compatible.

6. Stokke Trailz, £964

The Stokke Trailz is at the luxurious end of the all-terrain market, and it’s got the features to match.

Its large air-filled tyres with advanced suspension, the option to use the buggy in parent or world-facing modes, and a super comfy seat (or carrycot) that has the signature Stokke high frame position all impressed our judges.

Add in the large basket with a 10kg maximum load, included raincover and mosquito cover, and swish styling, and this is one deluxe ride for the most challenging of terrain.

7. Thule Urban Glide, £435

Like Scandi-style? Then you'll love the Thule Urban Glide. Sleek and minimalist, this 3-wheel buggy is one smart product.

Firstly - does it glide, as the name suggests? According to our reviewer Anthony Phillips 'Mounting kerbs is actually a pleasure; the buggy is so light it requires no effort to pop the front wheel up and the wheels are so big that they immediately connect with the surface for a pretty seamless journey.'

And with lots of storage space in the zip-up under-seat basket and little mesh pocket in the seat unit, it's pretty useful too. A one-hand fold, reclining seat, extendable handlebar and nifty parking brake shows just how much thought has gone into this stylish pushchair...

8. Jané Trider, £495

The chic Jané Trider is a comfy, cosy and smooth ride for your little one, says our reviewer, with its three large all-terrain, puncture-proof rubber tyres and adjustable suspension.

The Trider’s high seat position is designed to raise your child above car-fume height, and allows the pushchair to be drawn up to a table and used as a highchair - handy in a restaurant.

The frame will stand unsupported on its end to save space once folded and quick-release wheels can be removed for an even more compact footprint (this takes the folded size from 70cm x 60cm x 39cm down to 65cm x 48cm x 30cm).

9. iCandy Peach All-Terrain, £680 + £195 for a newborn carrycot

An all-terrain version was always the next step for British brand iCandy to add to its ever-popular Peach range.

The three-wheeler iCandy Peach All-Terrain comes in two colours - Toucan (Jet black with electric yellow piping) and Sneaker (Grey with vibrant coral piping).

It is pricey at £680, plus an extra £195 if you want to add a newborn carrycot, but iCandy's renowned manoeuvrability, robust frame and stylish look are all hallmarks of its new three-wheeler.

10. Britax Bob Revolution pro, £447

Claiming to turn the world into a playground, the Britax Bob Revolution Pro is a lightweight stroller designed to tackle any terrain, as our Reviewer Katherine Bebo found out:

'The large wheels and superior suspension mean a smooth ride when tackling tree roots, rocks and other uneven terrain. On the way to the woods, it also laughed in the face of kerbs, and was comfortable to jog with.'

With its fixed and swivel wheel options, handbrake and adjustable handle, this is one premium running buggy. The sleek black powder-coated frame means it looks the part too.
