  • Obaby Takeoff, £200

Obaby is known for creating unique-looking pushchairs and the Takeoff stroller is no different.

With helicopter-style handlebars, the Takeoff is travel system compatible, suitable from 6 months and comes complete with a raincover.

At 7.8kg it folds quickly and compactly and the wheels can come off for an even smaller footprint.

  • Quicksmart Backpack Stroller, £75

One of the first backpack strollers available on the market, the Quicksmart pushchair is a dainty 4kg in weight, folds in seconds and is very compact.

Small enough to be taken on a plane as carry-on luggage, it doesn’t have a recline feature, and isn’t great for rough terrain, but it’s perfect if you need to get up and go in an instant.

  • Omnio Rider, £349

A lightweight (5.9kg), condensed buggy, the Omnio Rider is IATA compliable, meaning in it can fit in an overhead locker in a plane.

But what’s really unique about this pushchair are its wheels. The Omni-wheels are a series of small wheels set in one larger wheel.

It means the front wheels can move in any direction, a bit like the ones on travel cases, so it is extra agile when pushed and there’s no need to fix the wheels over tougher terrain.

Still in prototype phase, it's hoped the Omnio will hit the stores later this year.

  • Babyzen Yoyo 0+, £375

The first pushchair to fully comply with the size recommendation for cabin baggage, the Babyzen Yoyo 0+ is thinner than a Hermes Birkin bag when folded.

Suitable from birth and weighing a mere 5.8kg, it can be folded with one hand and pushed with one hand too.

  • Ruk Bug Migration, £450

Launched at the 2015 Harrogate Nursery Fair, this backpack buggy is forward-facing, suitable from 6 months and can be colour coordinated.

What’s great about the Ruk Bug is the harness buckle - it’s magnetic!  Still as secure as any other pushchair harness, there’s no need to fiddle with the buckle to try and close it as it clicks in automatically.  It can then be easily released with a slider, a great innovation.

Again, this is just at prototype stage, but it's hoped we may see the Ruk Bug on our shelves before the end of the year.
