Tested by: Journalist Michelle is grandma to 2-year-old Clay. They tested the iCandy Lime Pushchair on trips around the city and to the park.

First impressions of the iCandy Lime Pushchair

As the very happy owner of an iCandy Strawberry Pushchair, I was eager to see how the iCandy Lime would differ, and I wasn’t disappointed – I absolute adore this product.

The box the iCandy Lime arrived in was a lot smaller than that of the iCandy Strawberry.

I received the Flavour Pack in lime green and at first I was a little unsure, but once assembled the colour was not too bold and the overall finish was quite sleek.

Is the iCandy Lime Pushchair easy to assemble?

The pushchair came three-quarters assembled. All I had to do was click the wheels into their respective holes and place the seat on the frame – a very simple procedure. From opening the box it took no more than 10 minutes to be up and running.

How easy is it to push?

Very easy. I was struck by how light the pushchair felt to push and how easy it was to navigate through narrower spaces like my hallway.

Is the iCandy Lime easy to fold?

Not the easiest, although it does fold with the seat attached. While the iCandy Lime boasts a one-hand fold, I found I needed two hands to fold it.

How easy is it to store?

Very easy. The iCandy Lime fitted nicely in a corner without causing much obstruction or looking out of place.

lime-carry

Does the iCandy Lime fit in the boot of a car?

It fits well in the boot of a SUV, with quite a lot of space to spare.

Is the iCandy Lime a lightweight pushchair?

We wouldn't call the Lime lightweight, but at 10.2kg it is one of the lighter buggies for its sturdiness. It's certainly lighter than the iCandy Peach (14.2kg) and just slightly heavier than the Bugaboo Fox 2 (9.9kg). Beware: some retail sites list weight of the Lime as just 4.5kg, but this is simply the weight of the chassis without wheels and seat (not a very practical weight). Like the iCandy Peach, the Lime features a handy carry strap so you can pick it up and move it around easily.

How do the wheels handle uneven ground?

iCandy have kept their signature, chunky, tubular wheels which are made from ERP – this virtually guarantees you can negotiate even the toughest ground surfaces without worrying about punctures. The Lime handled a busy London park with multiple terrains with relative ease. We tried the pushchair on both grass and gravel and there was no marked difference.

Do the iCandy Lime's brakes work effectively?

The brake is situated on the right-hand-side of the stroller. It’s nice and sharp and didn’t move even when Clay was in a playful mood.

What new features does the iCandy Lime Pushchair have?

I really love that iCandy have introduced a built-in ride-on board for the iCandy Lime Pushchair – this will save you money as your baby gets bigger and if you decide to have more children. Another new feature I loved is the discreet, compact zip-up pouch at the rear of the seat – you can drop your keys or phone in there to keep them safe.

How does the seat of the iCandy Lime compare to the iCandy Strawberry Pushchair?

I love that the seat is more upright, but it seems a little small for bigger children. I also like that the seat is slightly higher. The iCandy Lime also boasts seat elevators which work with the handlebar – you simply attach them to the side of the chassis, and that gives your baby a bit more space if you’re also using the built-in ride-on board.

How comfortable is the iCandy Lime Pushchair for your child?

Clay enjoyed being high up in the seat and eye-level with things when we were out. Although he loved being in the seat, he especially liked the ride-on board.

How was interacting with your child in the pushchair?

As Clay is at an age where he prefers to travel world-facing, it’s quite difficult to interact with him.

What do you think of the hood?

The iCandy Lime boasts a very cute peek-a-boo section in the hood, so you can keep an eye on baby when they are world-facing and adjust the seat if they fall asleep.

What did you think of the 5-point harness?

I love the 5-point harness. It’s height- and weight-adjustable and comes with colour-coded pads and a circular safety clasp, which you just snap into place and you are ready to go. It is also has enough extension for a growing child to be safely secured.

What do you think of the handlebar?

The handlebar has a nice, durable grip with leather-look material, which is comfortable when pushing for long periods of time. It is adjustable in height from 98-109cm.

Does the iCandy Lime have a large and easy-to-access basket?

The basket is bigger and very accessible – a feature that I really love.

How does the iCandy Lime Pushchair compare to other buggies?

Some of the pushchairs I’ve used include Cybex Bios, Stokke, Cosatto, Allis Plume, Mima Zigi and iCandy Strawberry, and this is by far one of the best. It’s slick, lightweight, durable and looks extremely good, too.

What’s in the box?

  • chassis
  • wheels
  • seat unit
  • flavour pack
  • carrycot
  • bumper bar
  • car seat adaptors
  • apron
  • rain cover
  • seat elevators

MadeForMums verdict:

The iCandy Lime is a very generous package. I absolutely love it – it’s a top-quality travel system that's built to last, looks good and drives really well. Although iCandy is a premium brand, the Lime is pitched at a lower price than the Peach, yet still manages to feel high-end.
