For those doing long car journeys, however, it may not offer quite enough comfort. The Nano SP Car Seat from Baby Weavers – one of baby retailer Kiddicare’s own-brands – is a Group 2/3 car seat. Forward facing and suitable from 15kg to 36kg, roughly 3 or 4 years up to 11 or 12 years, this could well be your last car seat purchase. If you have more than one child, the size, weight and price of a car seat are really crucial, especially if you’re a carer or grandparent. With this in mind, if you’re looking for a safe, sturdy seat without a big price tag, the lightweight Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat is a good buy. It’s one of the most affordable car seats around thanks to the Kiddicare Price Match Policy. While the RRP is £56, it’s currently being sold at £27 because of this policy. Easy to fit and suitable for most cars, the Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat offers height-adjustable head support, a padded seat with tall back, arm rests and side impact protection for head, hips and torso. What we love The Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat is sturdy, stylish and affordable. It features height-adjustable head support, two diagonal belt guides and comes with a clear instruction manual. It’s easy to assemble and take apart for storage - all you need to do is to slot the back into the base part of the seat (you can’t use this seat as a backless booster, this is just for ease of stowing). All the material parts can be removed and washed by hand at 30 degrees, which is great as children tend to smear food or might have little accidents while strapped in a car seat. Classed as universal, it is compatible with the majority of vehicle seats and doesn’t take up too much room, which is handy if you have to fit another car seat alongside it. What to watch out for Some mums who reviewed the Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat online find it easy to fit it into the car. For us, trying to get the seatbelt into the guides was a bit fiddly. The Nano is less versatile than more expensive models and doesn’t offer a recline function. It also doesn’t have a cup holder – an absence that was remarked upon by my 4-year-old Michela, who didn’t know where to store her sports bottle. Her old car seat had two cup holders so she was a bit critical, though I do think it’s a good product for the price. Michela complained that the plastic attachments that slot into the back of the booster seat were uncomfortable. I checked the seat and realised that the padding stops above them. On a lighter note, Michela wasn’t too pleased the brand name had the word ‘Baby’ in it – this seat is aimed at toddlers and school-age children, who believe they’re grown up now and find the word ‘Baby’ offensive. Bless them! Who is the Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat best for? Parents or carers on a budget who want a safe, sturdy car seat that doesn’t take too much space in the car. MadeForMums verdict Great value for money, the Baby Weavers Nano SP Car Seat has good safety features, but is less versatile and comfortable than more expensive models, which might make it less appealing for long journeys.
