The new Group 1 Bobobfix car seat from Bebecar is stylish, extremely comfortable and offers maximum safety.

As a Group 1 car seat, the Bebecar Bobobfix is suitable from 9kg to 18kg, approximately 9 months to 4years.

This car seat ticks all the boxes. Its unique adjustment system allows both the lower seat and backrest to recline, and offers a more relaxed sitting position for short hops or longer journeys. It features side impact protection at both the head and hip area to provide the maximum amount of protection and comfort for your baby and toddler. The Bebecar Bobobfix features a tether strap that can be attached to anchorage points in the car. This is an excellent added safety feature because it limits the seat’s movement in the event of an accident. This top tether must be used when the car seat is installed with ISOFIX.

It isn’t entirely surprising that the Bobobfix’s string of features are reflected by a £229 price tag, but you are getting exactly what you pay for with this car seat. It comes in a choice of six colours, and the covers can be hand washed.

What we love

There’s a lot to like about the Bobobfix and I would recommend it to parents wanting a seat that doesn’t compromise on safety for style.

This seat looks robust, but without being too bulky, and it’s light enough (7kg) to lift in and out of the car. The deep padded side head supports look both safe and very comfortable too.

Safety aside, my favourite feature overall is how the seat goes from upright to recline in one smooth movement, operated by a lever at the side. This means there’s no risk of disturbing Louie when he nods off. He even smiled when I reclined the seat for the first time, probably because he wasn’t jolted backwards like he is in his usual car seat! I particularly like how comfy Louie looks in both the upright and reclined position.

The padded height-adjustable harness straps can also be easily altered as your child grows, by using the sliding function at the back of the seat. This means there isn’t the inconvenience of having to take the straps out completely to feed them through different slits as your child grows, as I’ve found with so many car seats.

There’s the added plus of using this car seat with either ISOFIX and adjustable tether strap, or securing it into place with your car’s own 3-point seatbelt. It even has a colour sign system to tell you that the car seat is fitted correctly, although this function only works when the seat is fitted via the ISOFIX. For those without ISOFIX, there’s a reassuring diagram on the side to remind you how to route the seatbelt to make sure the seat is completely secure.

The Bobobfix also has an audible warning device to alert parents should the buckle be undone – this gives me total piece of mind, especially now inquisitive Louie is old enough to know where his harness fastens.

What to watch out for

I found just a few niggles with the Bebecar Bobobfix, which I wouldn’t mention unless pushed.

When I used the car’s seatbelt to secure it into place, it took a couple of attempts to feed the belt correctly through the safety clip at the side before it would click securely shut. While trialling this seat, I had to move it from one car to another in a hurry, and this did take longer than I would’ve liked. However, on the plus side, the clip is a crucial safety feature of the seat and refuses to shut until the seatbelt is exactly where it should be.

Another slightly irritating feature is the protective cover surrounding the buckle – it sometimes gets in the way so fastening up takes longer than it should.

For some, the price might be a little off putting.

Who is the Bebecar Bobobfix car seat best for?

Parents after a super all-rounder.
