Pros

  • Sturdy, well-built, comfortable, table height, stylish rounded design

Cons

  • Short crotch strap, difficult to twist table on to seat

The new booster seat by BEABA, the Baby Boost, is a great alternative to a highchair and much more compact. Just don’t be misled by the name – this is for toddlers only.

BEABA was created back in 1989 and is the name behind loads of colourful and innovative baby products, such as baby bottles, rockers, soothers, changing bags and bath time products.

While most of BEABA’s feeding product emphasis has been on the preparation and storage of food, BEABA has designed a funky highchair and now its first booster seat.

The BEABA Baby Boost is basically a portable seat that fastens onto a normal dining chair, so your child is at table height. It has a harness, a removable seat pad and removable table.
It comes in two colour ways – lime green and white, and two-tone grey.

What we love

I love the rounded design of the BEABA Baby Boost and it looks so comfortable. From the first time my 18-month-old son Nathaniel sat in it he didn't want to get out. In fact, he’s tried to ride it like a rocking horse, which slightly concerned me, but the harness holds and proves to me it’s made of tough stuff.

I like that Nathaniel can be at table-height with us, and he enjoys being able to see what was happening and join in at mealtimes.

The BEABA Baby Boost works successfully on the several different styles of dining chair we’ve encountered, and it’s this versatility that means I’d recommend it.

What to watch out for

The BEABA Baby Boost is only suitable once your child’s 18 months old. For me this is perfect, as I’ve only just got my head around the idea that we need one of these, with grandma's house not having a highchair, and Nathaniel having outgrown the fabric seat harness they bought. While this age suitability may annoy some would-be purchasers, I think because the seat is for a bigger toddler, it means it will last until your toddler is able to sit on a proper dining chair.

It did take a while to twist the table into position when we took the BEABA Baby Boost out of the box, and for this reason we haven't taken it off.

The crotch-strap part of the harness is quite short and I found it slightly fiddly the first time, trying to loop it through one side of the lap strap. However, after a couple of times it’s easy.

The BEABA Baby Boost is slightly larger than some booster seats, but fits nicely in a car foot well for travelling. It would be nice if BEABA come up with a travel bag to put it in.

Who is the BEABA Baby Boost best for?

Parents of toddlers who want up-to-the-table dining away from home.

MadeForMums verdict

The BEABA Baby Boost is a good product for eating away from home with a toddler. While larger than some boosters, it’s sturdy and easy to clean. BEABA just need to design a travel bag.
