A portable highchair and booster seat in one, the Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat also has a built-in toy tray that will delight any mum who’s spent hours picking up toys from the floor! Sturdy enough to use from babies to toddlers.

The Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat is a solid piece of kit, and yet has been designed to be portable, too. It has a handy shoulder strap, and the back and tray fold to make it more portable.

Built from sturdy plastic, it’s most obvious feature is the toy tray – which holds a nodding parrot, moving frogs, a swinging monkey and a tree that can be turned around. It’s based on the popular Healthy Care Booster Seat, with the addition of the rainforest theme.

What we love

The most surprising thing about the seat was the speed in which I managed to get it out of the box, on the chair and with small child in place. Not only is it simplicity itself to assemble – just a couple of clips to put the tray on, and straps and clips to fix it to a chair – but Arron, who’s almost 3, couldn’t wait to sit in it! This from a child who has refused a highchair for a good 15 months!

The toy tray, which fits into the seat’s tray, is designed for babies. But Arron actually insisted the toy tray be fitted, and enjoyed the novelty for a while. What a great idea it is! No more picking up toys that supposedly stick to a highchair tray. The toy tray fits in firmly and will certainly keep a small child happy while you’re cooking dinner, washing up or doing one of those other oh-so-glamorous mum jobs.

Once fixed to a normal kitchen chair, the Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat stayed in place really firmly – very comforting for me, the mum of a climbing wriggler. It has two solid bases underneath, which can easily be fixed in three height options, so it will suit a variety of chair and table combinations as your child grows. The back can be removed for older children.

The 3-point restrain harness is easy to use – I have some arthritis in my hands and often find these clips impossible to undo, but those on the Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat presented me with no problems.

The whole thing is easily cleaned, thanks to its smooth lines. In fact the tray can go in the dishwasher –I wish I’d had this when Arron was in the ‘smear Weetabix over everything’ phase. Hacking cement-like dried Weetabix off highchair trays has never been on my ‘things to do before you’re 40’ list.

The sturdiness of the Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat means it should take your child from baby to pre-schooler. The seat is actually so sturdy that Arron is able to climb in and out of it as he wishes, and doesn’t really need to use the straps!

What to watch out for

On first look, I was quite surprised that the Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat was designed to be an on-the-go seat because it looks so sturdy. It is a little heavy. It’s fine to carry from the car into a restaurant or to a friend’s home, but if you want a booster seat to take out all day, this may not be the ideal choice.

Who is Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat best for?

Mums who want a sturdy highchair replacement to use at home and take out occasionally.

MadeForMums verdict

Beautifully designed, easy to use and clean, and simple to fix to any chair. The Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care Booster Seat means you can do away with a highchair, and have just one item to take your baby from weaning to pre-school. If you’re a real out-and-about mum, it may not be portable enough for your needs.
