Pros

  • Funky motorbike design, bright colour ways, comfy to use, ergonomic shape

Cons

  • Large, tricky to empty or clean, child has to remove trousers and pants to use potty

The Jané Winner Potty is a fun and innovative design that your toddler will find comfortable to use. However, they will need to completely remove their pants and trousers to be able to use it!

Jané Winner Potty (pronounced “Han-ay”), the manufacturer of car seats and pushchairs, developed this innovative motorbike-shaped potty in 2005. Costing RRP £18.99, the potty part is where a bike seat would be and there are soft handles to grip at the front of the bike. The potty is decorated with eyes, brake lights and a racing number and is available in four funky colours - purple, orange, lime and silver.

The Jané Winner Potty has been ergonomically designed to include two side platforms that prevent the potty from sticking to your tot when they get up. It’s suitable for toddlers aged 12 months and over.

What we love

Peter loved the motorbike design of this potty – he thought it was a fun ride-on toy to play with and was really happy to sit on for a decent length of time of a result. This was especially helpful during the early days of potty training when I just wanted him to practice sitting. The variety of colour ways are all very appealing.

The shape of the Jané Winner Potty is ergonomic, putting your toddler into a good squat position, which they can’t easily pull away from. For some little ones, pooing on a potty can initially be a strange experience, but Peter found it helpful to hold onto the bike’s handles when doing so (sorry if that’s too much detail!).

Visiting friends have also enjoyed trying it out and it’s a fun, bright item to have on display in our bathroom.

What to watch out for

The Jané Winner Potty is quite large with no removable inner pot, so it’s difficult to empty without slopping a bit of wee onto your family toilet. You would also need another, smaller potty to take away with you or in the car.

The main problem I have found with the Jané Winner Potty is that your toddler needs to completely take off their pants (and therefore trousers) in order to stand and then sit astride the potty. This is fine in the early days when they’re just training. But when they’re fully trained it can be a bit of pain to have them half undressing each time they need a quick wee!

The motorbike design is probably more suited to a boy than a girl, but saying that Lucy was keen to also give it a go.

Who is the Jané Winner Potty best for?

Bike-mad toddlers in the earlier stages of potty training.

MadeForMums Verdict

The Jané Winner Potty is a great, fun design for the early days of potty training when your little one is learning what to do and practicing sitting still. On the negative side, your toddler will be stripping from the waist down every time he uses it. It’s quite large, so you’ll need an alternative option when travelling.
