Mamas & Papas have stepped into the maternity lingerie arena with three classic collections to suit every occasion. Looking to inject a little opulence in my life I headed straight for the Luxury collection, trying the Satin Maternity Bra, a comfy slate coloured number for special moments. Leading nursery company Mamas & Papas has launched three boutique-style lingerie collections to complement its existing maternity clothing range. Taking inspiration from everything it does, the collections evoke style, elegance and design. There’s Essentials for your basic needs; Everyday, which is pretty and unique; and Luxury, for those special occasions or just for feeling good. The Luxury collection’s Satin Maternity Bra is an elegant slate colour and is made of satin with lace fabrics and cute bow trims. It’s perfect for feeling special and proving that being pregnant doesn’t have to mean hiding your body in frumpy, plain underwear. Mamas & Papas is one of the first brands to include a newly designed bamboo inner lining in its maternity bras, which draws moisture away from the body through its natural wicking. What we love I loved the design. The Mamas & Papas Luxury Satin Maternity Bra is certainly pretty with its lace pattern complemented by the sheer satin, and even though I was slightly concerned about the silvery-slate colour it was surprisingly flattering. What really sticks out though is how comfortable it is. I hardly knew I was wearing it. The satin feels so soft and smooth against your skin it’s almost like a second skin. The straps are like those of a normal bra and with the delicate gilt fastenings it certainly doesn’t feel like maternity lingerie. I also tried the matching Slate Shorts. These are also quite exquisite. They’re certainly not what I’d wear every day but for a special occasion they’re right on the money! Finally, 10% of every purchase is donated to the Wellbeing of Women charity. What to watch out for Though the Mamas & Papas Luxury Satin Maternity Bra claims to offer maximum control and support, it certainly isn’t for everyday use. I didn’t feel quite as supported as some less-indulgent maternity lingerie, and even though I had the straps as tight as they could go I still felt I needed a little more lift. Although, as the range is luxury, maybe it’s not meant to be worn everyday. As a set, I thought it was a bit pricey if you’re not going to wear it that often. As long as you don’t constantly change size through your pregnancy - as I tend to - it may just be worth the price tag. Who is the Mamas & Papas Luxury Maternity Bra - Slate best for? Mums-to-be who want to feel special but still comfortable. MadeForMums verdict A soft, sensual and subtle maternity bra with the option for matching short-style undies, this is ideal for special occasions, but not supportive enough for everyday use.
