Pros

  • Really comfortable, easy to pull on, support your bump, look smart from the first to third trimesters and beyond, can dress up or down

Cons

  • Not the cheapest jeans around, quite low-slung on the hips

If jeans are a wardrobe staple for you, then a pair of Crave Bootleg Jeans will be a pregnancy purchase you won’t regret.

The Crave Bootleg Jeans come in indigo and is a pull-on, under-bump style with an elasticated panel that stretches right across the front. It’s made from 98% cotton, 2% elastane and is machine washable at 40 degrees.

The Bootleg Jean is one of eight maternity jean styles this label offers. If you’re not sure which to choose, the Crave website offers a handy style guide to buying jeans, which is worth checking out, and says its customer service advisors can provide info on styling and fit if you call them. It also claims all its garment are rigorously fit-tested to ensure the look and feel are maintained through each stage of pregnancy.

What we love

Crave Bootleg Jeans are the most comfortable maternity jeans I’ve tried and I can see myself wearing them throughout pregnancy and beyond. Because they’re pull-on, there are no buttons, zips or rivets to dig into you and the denim is thin and soft – they rival tracksuit bottoms in the comfort stakes.

The jersey-covered, elasticated panel at the front feels supportive and gives your bump some shape.

I normally favour straight or skinny jeans but these are a more flattering style when you’re carrying extra weight around your thighs and bum. The dark indigo shade means they’d work with a more formal outfit, as well as everyday casual wear. And the stitching detail on the pockets and fly means despite being pull-on, they have all the styling you’d expect from a ‘proper’ pair of jeans.

What to watch out for

I’d advise ordering in a size larger than you’d expect to be, as they come up small (and short). I’ve been wearing a 10/12 in most maternity labels, but found I had to send back the ’12 regular’ in the Crave Bootleg Jeans in favour of a ’14 long’.

Because the Crave Bootleg Jeans are an under-bump style, they sit on your hips and you do have to pull them up from time to time - and beware of ‘builder’s bum’ when bending over!

At £58 they’re not a budget buy – although if you live in jeans like I do, you’d certainly get enough wear to justify the cost.

Who are Crave Bootleg Jeans best for?
