Pros

  • Extremely light, robust, useful carry strap

Cons

  • Not suitable from birth, quite small wheels so not great on rough terrain

There’s a reason that every second parent you see is pushing a Maclaren Quest Mod, and that’s because it’s reliable, light, comfy and good-looking – and you know it’s going to last you until all your children have outgrown it!

Maclaren has been making pushchairs since 1965, and the Quest Mod is an updated version of the very first buggy it produced, the B-01. It remains one of the most popular Maclaren models.

What we love

The styling on the Quest Mod is great, and there’s even a mega-girlie pink version! The carry strap is a great idea for parents of toddlers, as you can pick it up if your child wants to walk rather than pushing an empty buggy. It’s really light, which makes it perfect for holidays, and it’s suitable from 3 months so it’s fine even if you’re going away with a young baby. It also comes with a raincover.

It really can be folded and unfolded with one hand, and the clip that holds it closed fastens itself, so you just fold and pick up – even when holding a baby with your other arm. It’s particularly good for manoeuvring around shops as it’s so light and easy to steer.

What to watch out for

The brake is quite difficult to click on and off, and doesn’t always work brilliantly.

The wheels are small so it’s not great on rough terrain, but then this is more of a city buggy, not one to take on muddy weekend walks.

The shopping basket is pretty small – but that’s one of the things that help it to be so light. It’s also not the cheapest option – but it won’t fall apart, so if you’re planning on two or three babies, it’s a good choice.

Who is the Maclaren Quest Mod best for?

Quality-conscious parents who want a practical, light pushchair to last forever.

MadeForMums verdict

You’re never going to regret buying a Maclaren Quest Mod. They’ve made a real effort to make a classic pushchair look modern and stylish, without sacrificing any of the original features that make this such a reliable, practical buggy. If you’re a rambler who likes roaming country paths, this may not be your best option.
