Pros

  • The style, compact/easy to fold, fantastic handling/ 4 wheel suspension, adjustable footrest/handles, carry cot, ability to personalise bumper bar. (even the packaging!)

Cons

  • Quite expensive and the additional accessories are a bit pricey so it all adds up (but they are worth it!) & the shopping basket is small.

Joolz may be a young Dutch company, but it has made an indelible mark in the pushchair industry earning its products high acclaim and celebrity fans.

Its ‘Positive Design’ philosophy focuses on developing and creating outstanding, high quality, practical & stylish pushchairs that strives to support and relieve the body of parent and child and contribute towards health, comfort and usability.

Even the box itself can be used to create fun things for children to make and play with, in keeping with Joolz’s sustainable and creative ideas.

The original Day buggy was launched five years ago with much attention focused on ergonomic design, the idea being that it’s supposed to feel as comfortable as possible for baby and assist posture in parents because the seat and cot are higher up on the chassis.

And the Day Quadro, as the name suggests (Quadro meaning painting/picture) has been influenced by Italian design and it is indeed a work of art!

It is being sold on its luxurious fixtures and fittings and customisable bumper bar.

The 2-in-1 pushchair is suitable from birth to 15kg (approx. three years), includes a carrycot that is suitable for overnight sleeping and has an adjustable foot rest that can fit your child’s legs exactly, according to Joolz.

How do you put it together?

Assembling the Quadro is unbelievably easy and intuitive.

As useful as the instructions are, it can be put together and ready to go in a matter of minutes without their help.

Is it easy to fold?

Yes, it is incredibly easy to fold, even with the seat unit attached, and is very compact once done so. Removing the large back wheels frees up even more space, meaning you can pop it in your boot, a discreet corner or other tight spot.

I have an incredibly small hallway so it was fantastic to be able to fold it down and free up space, without it being an issue every time.

How is the Joolz Quadro when out and about?

It is the Quadro’s four wheel suspension that makes this pushchair even more of a joy, its handling is truly effortless, it seems to glide along even over the toughest terrain, taking every curb, bump and corner in its stride.

I could push it with my little boy in it and both my daughters on the foot board, up-hill and at times, with one hand and not break a sweat (sighs dreamily).

My husband also loved how easy it was to manoeuvre the Quadro, and actually admitted he enjoyed pushing it over any of the other (countless) buggies we have owned!

The addition of a foot board is a must for those with more than one small child. It is compact, easy to attach & remove (no adaptors are needed unlike most others), it moves smoothly with the pushchair, which can be folded with the board still fixed to it.

As with all of the Joolz pushchairs the height of the handlebar is easy to adjust with its discreet levers at each side, and seems to be just the right width to get a good comfortable grip.

It also extends further, perfect for the more statuesque mums and dad!

The Joolz Quadro is sold on its lavish stylishness, but how stylish is it?

It has a very luxe look and feel to it with its tailored leather detailing, tactile choice of fabrics/materials used, it’s cool neutral colour palette, and sleek, contoured silhouette.

It is like the parenting equivalent of owning a designer handbag, and at £799, indeed has a price tag to match. Yet, if you can afford it and want to splurge, then it is worth every penny.

The idea of being able to personalise the bumper bar with a short phrase or even a name and choose from a variety of colours really appealed to me. I would be tempted to purchase a couple, as it is a great, simple way to put your own stamp on the pushchair.

Compared with other ‘luxurious’ pushchairs on the market the Quadro is up there near the top. I admire that it is unpretentious, like all of Joolz’s designs, it has the ability to be luxe without being ostentatious.

The Quadro drew many admiring glances and I had many other mums coo over it and confess to their ‘Pram Envy’! I was even stopped in the street several times with people asking me about it.

Is the pushchair comfortable?

The seat unit is very comfortable, my son really enjoyed sitting/sleeping in it. I liked that there was a hidden zip pocket at the back, great for storing keys, oyster card or other useful bits.

The adjustable foot rest can be adjusted (more so than others on the market) to the exact length to accommodate your child, providing support and prevents dangling legs!

The seat can be reclined into a further two positions from upright and can be front and rear facing. Another feature I love about the seat, is that it is higher than most other pushchairs, making interacting with your child easier. It also relieves your back when lifting your child in and out and is the perfect height to have at a table, so can even be used in lieu of a highchair, when eating out.

The hidden ventilation, or Air Top, in the hood is a great feature for warmer days, especially if you have your little one covered from the sun, or even if you are just using the rain cover. It ensures extra air flow through the carrycot that can prevent over heating or discomfort.

Tell us about the Quadro carrycot.

The bassinet is spacious and comfortable and suitable for overnight sleeping. My little boy spent many a peaceful night sleeping in a Joolz Day carrier cot when he was younger, preferring it to his Moses basket. Even now, at eight-months-old (and tall for his age,) the Quadro’s carrycot could still accommodate him (just!) and he happily spent a night in it.

What about the basket?

The only thing that disappointed me a bit was the size of the shopping basket (although I really like the design), it is great for popping your essentials for an outing in, or picking up a few bits at the shops, but for anything more the Joolz XL shopping bag would be an invaluable extra.

It fits to the frame and gives a great amount of storage, meaning you don’t have to struggle with carrying umpteen bags of groceries and push!

MadeForMums verdict?

The Quadro is a beautifully designed, chic pushchair for the style and design conscious practical parent.

It effortlessly adapts as your child grows and is a pleasure to use. It may be expensive, but it is definitely a worthwhile investment, if you can afford it.

I can honestly say it is one of the best pushchairs I have used (the other was also a Joolz!) and highly recommend it.
