When your baby is old enough to sit up, and has outgrown the pram function, simply remove the mattress and pram insert, and it becomes a pushchair seat. Either way, the hood offers good protection, and there’s a viewing window, which when poppered back also gives extra ventilation.
What we love
Whether in pram or pushchair mode, the Silver Cross Linear Sleepover can be positioned either forward or rear facing on the chassis, and it clicks easily and securely into place. In pram mode, it offers a comfortable, cocooned environment for your baby (the mattress has built-in ventilation for safety), and the fact that it can also be used in the bedroom means you don’t need to buy a Moses basket as well, which could make it worth paying the price for this system. The Moses cover and stand are both high quality and will look good in any nursery.
The Linear chassis (you can also combine the Sleepover with the more traditional Classic chassis) is lightweight with a modern streamlined look, and offers height-adjustable handles that are well padded, too.
It’s easy to fold and goes down quite flat, and is freestanding when folded. It’s also light to steer, offers a large basket underneath, four-way suspension and a step-on, step-off brake to save your shoes.
The initial outlay may seem high, but it comes complete with raincover and cosytoes, as well as the Moses basket set, so you have a multi-functional pushchair that’s built to last.
What to look out for
The Liner Sleepover is definitely at its best in pram mode. In pushchair mode, the seat back doesn’t seem very high, and when fully reclined it folds in (as it does to convert to pram mode), restricting the head height still further.
Overall this feels quite wide, bulky and heavy, despite the lightness of the chassis. To fold the buggy, you need to remove the seat unit, which is a bit of a pain and renders it useless for public transport. The chassis may be light, but as there is no carrying handle, it’s awkward to lift. Folding is straightforward but requires both hands and a bit of a push from the body, so not to be attempted while holding your baby.
On the Marina colourway we tested, white faux leather trim looks cheap, not nautical – a bit of a letdown on a fairly expensive piece of equipment.

The Silver Cross Linear Sleepover offers great quality and plenty of versatility, especially as it can also be used as a Moses basket. However, its excellence as a pram is not matched in pushchair mode, so you may find the urge to buy something more compact as your baby grows older.
