The BRIO Go is a luxury, fun travel system. It’s perfect if you really want to make a style statement – and if you want a travel system even Grandma will understand how to work (but not carry!).
The BRIO Go travel system was born out of the belief that “a pram is something that shouldn’t be in the way, but rather a part of a fun-filled day”. It was developed to be light, stylish and strong, with BRIO’s strict safety standards in mind.
Although the BRIO Go has a slightly large price tag (around £700), it can be used as a pram for newborn babies, a pushchair and as a travel system with the car seat attached. The fashion-conscious parent can customise their Go by choosing the colour of the chassis, body and car seat.
The car seat, the BRIO Go Baby Carrier, is suitable from birth to 13kg. It’s installed using the car’s seat belts (or you can opt for ISOFIX, which is installed separately).
What we love
The BRIO Go looks complicated, but once it was out of the box the wheels were so easy to fit it was up and running within 10 minutes. At first look, it seemed huge, but that’s only because when you use it as a pram the carry cot sits high up. It’s ideal if you want to show off your newborn or have them close to you – and facing you – as you wheel.
You can really feel the quality as the ride is so smooth. And it comes in a range of fashionable shades – the yellow and bright blue are both particularly luxe looking.
The buttons click easily to swap the pram body and fold the system – and for something so large it folds up to a surprisingly compact package. If you’re using it as a pushchair, you don’t need to remove the seat before you fold, which saves time. Also, it’s obvious which buttons you need to press, which really does help when you’re teaching a visiting granny how it works. Another bonus is that the clicks are quiet, so you can easily carry a sleeping baby in the pram body.
When it comes to using the car seat, I had a very pleasant surprise – it’s the lightest I’ve ever felt. And it’s quick and easy to strap baby in, working with a standard 3-point car seatbelt. It also looks like the most comfortable, with high sides and luxurious, padded, cosy fabric.
Not only is the BRIO Go gorgeous, but the more you use it the more handy features you notice. It has reflectors for your evening walk and even the handle is ergonomically designed so you need the least possible effort to push it. Very handy!
What to watch out for
This is a big travel system. If you’re petite, you may struggle with it. I found the BRIO Go heavy to carry when folded, making it a major chore to get up the stairs to my flat. And most functions on it require two hands to click the buttons, so you’ll need to put your baby in a safe place before you fold it.
Using the Go as a pushchair wasn’t ideal for my 7-month-old as she likes to wiggle and the safety harness attaches at waist level, but doesn’t hold the shoulders up. It was definitely safe, but I couldn’t shift the fear that she might lean forward and topple.
Although it’s easy to get on a bus, it does seem bigger than other pushchairs once you’re on there as it’s tall and sturdy, so you may get some looks from other mums. Probably just down to jealousy though! Oh, and budget-conscious mums may struggle with the price tag.
