The whole package is very reasonably priced - for £257.99, you get the stroller (around £153.00), car seat (£60.00) and the in-car base (£44.99).
It seems that a lot of thought has gone into making a travel system that offers a number of key features but can still sell itself as a budget buy. Its name - Easy 1st - also epitomises everything it wants to achieve. It aims to make everything – including assembly - easy for new parents. And it must have taken me all of 10 minutes from opening the box to having my stroller ready to use!
Key features include feeling light to push, front and rear suspension, a lie-flat seat recline that means the stroller can be used from birth, easy folding and being freestanding when folded. The ‘extras’ – a very large basket, raincover and generous footmuff – are all very handy and add to the great value offered by this system.
What we love
I think probably one of the best things about the Safety 1st Easy 1st travel system is the infant car seat. The One Safe Plus car seat is extremely lightweight (under 3.5kg), which makes it easier to carry. My baby Oscar was 7lb 6oz at birth, and now four weeks down the line, he’s 10lb 3oz and it’s amazing how easy it is to still carry him around in the car seat. It has a generous bucket seat for Oscar to sit in with removable, washable seat cover and padded straps. The other great feature for summer babies is the sunshade - it almost seems ‘oversized’ but offers great coverage and keeps Oscar well and truly out of the bright sun.
The buggy also doesn’t disappoint. The Easy 1st stroller really does have one-hand folding - with a push of two buttons on the handlebar, it glides easily into half. Pushing couldn’t be easier – it feels lightweight, has swivel front wheels and the front and rear suspension make journeys a little less bumpy!
The other great plus is that the buggy has integrated adaptors to convert it into the travel system. This eliminates the risk of misplacing them (which has happened to me numerous times with each of my three babies). The car seat easily clips securely onto the buggy, and when you don’t need the car seat, the adaptors swivel backwards and become part of the pushchair.
What to watch out for
The Safety 1st Easy 1st travel system is not the most stylish of travel systems. Compared to some others it tends to look a little dated and the fabric is very shiny and noisy, which got a bit annoying for Oscar every time he moved.
The other problem is that Safety 1st says that its selling points are that it’s lightweight and compact. It’s most definitely lightweight in terms of being very easy to push, but it isn’t a particularly lightweight option to lift (it's 10.1kg). I don’t think that it’s compact when folded either, and these two points together mean it’s quite difficult to lift it in and out of the car.

The Safety 1st Easy 1st travel system has all the great features that you’d expect from a travel system. The very lightweight car seat, integrated adaptors and in-car base add to its ease of use, and the included ‘extras’ make the price tag seem a real bargain, too. However, just be aware that it is quite heavy and bulky and can take up quite a lot of boot space.
