Absolutely Brilliant!
There are so many different combinations for the way this pram can be used. In mono mode the basket is wonderful and I am already beginning to wonder how I will adjust to not having the changing bag right there! Even with changing bag in tow, there is plenty of room in the basket for shopping. It is often the dads that are most attracted to the basket actually - perhaps they like the idea of not needing to carry all the shopping! It pushes so nicely and is a lot slimmer than it looks. Most importantly, my son is comfortable in it and sleeps very well.
It is heavy - there is no doubt about that, but it doesn't have to be folded with the seats on and we have managed to fit it in the back of our little astra for the last 6months by taking the big back wheels off, which isn't as much of a hassle as it sounds. We have however, just bought a bigger car to accommodate the second seat when the baby arrives. Yes, it's expensive, but they are available second hand if you're not too precious about it being brand new - all the fabrics are machine washable anyway. It might be the price of a car, but essentially it is a car for your child!
I LOVE this pram! When we had our first, we always knew we'd want a second fairly close in age, so we started off with a phil and ted's tandem that was passed on to us from a friend. With the use of their 'peanut' bassinet, that pram was brilliant for the first 5 months or so, but as soon as my baby boy had to be facing outwards, my feelings towards it suddenly changed. I hated not being able to see him, and was already concerned about not being able to share the same wonderful eye-contact with my next newborn.
My research brought me to this wonderful invention, which I was attracted to because it alleviated my concerns about not having my children facing me AND it was to be a long term investment (as my original pram was intended) as I could use it as a single pram straight away, accommodate my two and potentially three children with the use of the buggy board, and then decrease in size again as my family continues to grow.
Yes, it is expensive, but I would like to put forward an argument for this pram being perfect for more than just the fashion conscious mother who wants to look good when pushing - a stereotype I rather resent! My husband and I both felt this was the right purchase for us and we saved hard to be able to afford it. Let it also be known that there are plenty available second hand on a well known Internet auction site. I will openly admit that is where mine came from!
Now number 2 is on the way, I am so excited about using it to it's full capacity!
