The Clippasafe Advanced Auto-Close Gate doesn’t involve any drilling into Nana’s wall, which is a relief, as it’s already falling down. It also means it’s ideal for families that are renting. Each hand wheel turns a spindle with a wall cup on the end until the correct tension is achieved. Once fitted it does seem sturdy, even on a slightly uneven staircase.
The auto-close system is really quite clever, and is useful for a busy household where there are people passing through all the time.
What to watch out for
I would probably find any safety gate slightly problematic to assemble and this is certainly no exception. Handing over the job to a mechanically-minded individual is what I’d recommend.
The other thing to watch out for is not to be over-zealous when you screw in the wall cups, as this tends to make the gate difficult to open and close.
