Katie Hopkins has directed her unique brand of Twitter scorn on Britain's pregnant teens – using an image of pregnant school uniforms on sale in a shopping centre.

"Pregnant school girls outfits on display: is this a) Southwark, b) Stoke on Trent or c) Venezuela," she tweeted.

The pregnant mannequins were actually placed in a Venezuelan mall earlier this week by campaigners who wanted to draw attention to the country’s bulging adolescent pregnancy rate.

But Katie used the South American stunt pics to highlight her distaste for places with "one of the highest teen preggers rates".

Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire had the second highest number of teen conceptions in local authorities in England and Wales in 2012, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The 3 mannequins pictured in Venezuela were dressed in local blue uniforms worn by schoolchildren in the country until the age of 15. The 2 local charities behind the campaign, Fundana and Construyendo Futuros, say shock tactics are needed to raise awareness as Venezuela has the highest teen pregnancy rate in South America, with 23% of all babies born to a girl under 18.

The display is running for a month and may be extended to other malls around Venezuela.
