Sorry Lidl. It's a bargain price but sadly no one really liked the 99p option. Not particularly drinkable and very sweet, it might be good option for those with a particularly sweet tooth who just want something to sip at the toasts.Score: 1.8 / 5 (9th place)
Our tasters found this champagne to be lively, with a smooth biscuity taste to it. It did lack in taste though and almost looked like water. Score: 2 / 5 (8th place)
The flavour was quite acidic and our tasters thought this sparkling chardonnay lacked in both taste and bubbles. A bit crisp but a nice pale colour. Score: 2.7 / 5 (7th place)
Some of our tasters found this one a little harsh, with a noticeable woody taste to it. But it did have the fizziest bubbles...Score: 3 / 5 (6th place)
The only pink champers to make it into our taste testing, this was lovely and fruity but had a slightly odd smell.

Sweet, fruity and very enjoyable sum up this sample well. It was noted for being very drinkable and a definite bargain!Score: 3.3 / 5 (5th place)
Waitrose's option had an expensive feel in the mouth and was a lovely golden colour. Great if you're going to be be supping it from a classy flute at a Christmas soire.Score: 3.7 / 5 (3rd place)
“Wahay” one of our tasters commented - which seems a pretty good summary of most people’s feelings. No wonder this one came in 2nd place - nicely bubbly, dry and with an attractive colour, it's a great addition to your shopping basket.Score: 3.8 / 5 (2nd place)
Our winner! Our tasters couldn’t say enough great things about this Champagne. From being delicious through to being “the one” for many, it was our clear winner - and it's not even the priciest!Score: 4.3 / 5 (1st place)
