Puff pinwheels
A yummy savoury pastry

Makes: 20

You'll need:

4 unsmoked bacon rashers

1 tbsp olive oil

2 spring onions finely chopped

375g (13oz) ready-rolled puff pastry

2-3 tbsp red pesto

100g (4oz) cheddar, grated

What to do:

1 Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F) gas 5. Cut the bacon into small pieces. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the bacon for 5-10 minutes, until cooked. Add the spring onions and cook gently until they are soft. Leave to cool slightly.

2 Unroll the pastry sheet, spread with the red pesto and scatter over the bacon and spring onions. Top with grated cheddar. Carefully roll the pastry, starting with a long side so that you end up with a long, thin sausage shape.

3 Cut the sausage shape into 20 circles and put onto a baking tray. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and risen. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.
