Research by supermarket Asda revealed 1/3 of mums and dads admit they are now inviting fewer children to parties to try and cut costs.
Instead of cutting the guest list try try some of our simple cost saving ideas...
* Dress your partner as a clown and play some silly games.
* Bake your own cake or make cupcakes and let the children decorate them as part of the entertainment.
* Make your own invites on the computer – or get your child to help draw and decorate some.
* Play old fashioned games like sleeping lions, pass the parcel or have a treasure hunt.
* Don’t buy expensive branded partyware – matching the colours of their favourite programme or book is enough for little ones.
