Research suggests a probiotic drink a day can protect children’s health
A daily dose of a probiotic yogurt drink can help protect children against infections, a new study by Georgetown University has found.
Over 600 children between three and six were given either a daily drink of a probiotic yogurt or a placebo. The study found that those who drank the probiotic were 20% less likely to suffer infections including ear and sinus problems.
The children who drank the yogurt also had reduced rates of other common infections, including flu and diarrhoea.
Although funded by probiotic yogurt makers Actimal on their own product, researchers believe other probiotic drinks may have similar benefits to children’s health.
