Whether it's Willy Wonka's magical chocolate factory, the lovable BFG or the adventures of Fantastic Mr Fox, everyone has a favourite Roald Dahl tale.His irresistible stories and poems have been entertaining children for generations and Roald Dahl Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate snozzcumbers, golden tickets and giant peaches.From feasting on a BFG breakfast to dressing up as Mr Twit or a warty witch in a costume competition, there's plenty of fabulous fun to be had by children. To really get into the party spirit head to one of the many special Roald Dahl events being held across the UK where children can lose themselves in Roald's fantastical stories. Pay a visit to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, the village where Dahl lived and wrote for 30 years. Dahl found inspiration for his books around the village so follow the trail and you might just recognise the odd landmark. As an extra special treat, a visit to Roald Dahl’s very own garden is not to be missed. Children won’t be able to resist the maze or Dahl’s old painted caravan, which he bought as a giant toy for his grandchildren and wrote about in Danny the Champion of the World. The garden at Gypsy House will be open Sunday 13th September, 2pm-5pm.
