That's inexcusable really. If a restaurant has a designated child's area,it would imply they were a place that catered for children. You can't expect a hungry two year old to sit and wait for long. The waiter's comments weren't down to the restaurant but maybe they should vet their staff a little better and maybe if service hadn't been so slow the situation wouldn't have arisen in the first place.
The worst situation we had was when we went to a pub restaurant when Arthur was two.We phoned ahead to let them know how many, and how many children,us and another BIL/SIL and nephew. They said no problem, they told us when the best time to go was,but still the service was very slow. The highchairs kept collapsing and had no harnesses,so I had to keep a constant eye on those as we had Arthur and Arwen in one each. They served everyone but Arthur's,he had to wait ten minutes more than the others,by which time he was hungry, tired, and had a huge paddy, threw a toy dinosaur across the table, spilt SIL's drink all over her,and we had to go and calm down in the car.His dinner finally got there,he was too tired to eat ,and fell asleep before he got his pudding.
We don't do restaurants any more
