Your partner will need supplies during your labour too, and can also take charge of the mobiles phones, parking fees and other admin!

If your partner plans to stay with you through your labour, there are some basics that he should bring along, from energy food for him to a clean outfit to go home in (birth isn’t the tidiest of events!). You can download the below list as a pdf, for your partner to print out and tick off all the hospital bag essentials he needs.

For your partner to pack for the birth:

  • Snacks and drinks
  • Change of clothes
  • Blanket
  • Magazines/book
  • Toiletries, such as deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Money
  • Change for the hospital car park
  • Camera
  • Mobile phone – yours and his
  • Chargers for camera and mobile phones
  • List of phone numbers, in case you can’t use mobile

Other hospital bag checklists you need to know about:

  • Hospital bag for your baby
  • Hospital bag for you, for labour and straight after birth
  • Second hospital bag for you, for your partner to bring later
