1. furReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger

furReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger

Editor's Choice, Best Interactive Toy for Younger Kids

Meet Gabby, the adorable tiger cub who doesn't stay little for long.

This interactive plush pet actually grows as children feed, cuddle and care for her. With more than 100 sound-and-motion combinations, Gabby responds to attention with playful noises and movements, bringing an extra element of surprise to nurturing play.

And the fun doesn't end once she's grown. Gabby can shrink back to cub size, so children can enjoy watching her grow all over again.

Our award judges loved how quickly children formed a bond with their new pet. Parent award judge Chloe found that Gabby soon became a much-loved companion, accompanying the family throughout the day.

Gabby has become a member of the house now and is often brought to meal times, shopping trips and bed time.

Parent award judge Chloe

For children who love soft toys, animals and caring for their own little companions, Gabby brings together cuddly comfort and interactive fun.

2. Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro

Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro

Gold, Best STEM/Science Toy

For children who love puzzles, patterns and making things, the Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro is a colourful way to get those little brains working.

The set includes 750 foam cubes, a large activity board and 30 challenges that encourage children to follow coordinates and recreate pixel-style pictures. As they progress, they can invent their own designs, combining creativity with early maths, logic and problem-solving.

It's a great option for children who enjoy a challenge but also want the freedom to get creative.

Our award judges particularly liked how the activity held children's attention without a screen. Parent award judge Rhona tested the set with her seven-year-old son, Finley, who enjoyed following the challenges before creating his own pictures.

I was really surprised with how well my child engaged with it, I often find it difficult to find toys that hold his attention, but he really enjoyed this one. He picked an image to copy but then once completed went back to create an image of his own.

Parent award judge Rhona

3. Kid Potato: Welcome to my World

Kid Potato_ Welcome to my World

Gold, Best Children's Book

A potato getting into ridiculous adventures might not sound like the obvious recipe for a brilliant children's book, but that's exactly what makes Kid Potato so much fun.

Written and illustrated by Neil Coslett, this laugh-out-loud book combines short stories with black-and-white illustrations, creating a format that's particularly inviting for newly confident and reluctant readers.

With alien invasions, robot toilets and plenty of gloriously silly humour, there's lots to keep children entertained.

Parent award judge Michelle tested the book with her seven-year-old son, Freddie, who was soon reading it whenever he had the chance.

It held his attention really well, he was reading it on the way to school in the car and while walking along. I noticed that he read it a lot more than usual books and he laughed out loud a lot.

Parent award judge Michelle

For children who don't usually choose to pick up a book, this could be the Christmas present that changes their minds.

4. TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame

TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame

Gold, Best Outdoor Play Equipment

If you're planning a really big Christmas surprise and have the garden space to match, the TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame could be a dream come true for energetic children.

With a climbing tower, wavy slide, monkey bars and zipline-style swing, it brings a whole playground's worth of activities into the garden. The modular design offers flexibility, while the FSC-certified timber makes it a substantial outdoor investment.

Our award judges particularly loved watching children's confidence grow as they mastered new challenges.

Parent award judge Katey tested the climbing frame with her five-year-old son, Walter, who was especially proud of learning to use the monkey bars independently.

I love everything about it. The monkey bars was the hardest bit and mummy had to help me to start with and now I can do it all by myself. My favourite bit is the zip line because it’s like a swing and we go swinging back and forth and back and forth. All my friends want to come play on it and I have the coolest garden house park in the world!!!

Walter, aged 5, child award judge

It's the biggest investment in our Top 10, but offers years of climbing, swinging and outdoor adventures for families with the space.

5. Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing

Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing

Gold, Best Family Game

Bad at drawing? Perfect. That's practically the point of Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing.

In this hilarious family game, players attempt to draw secret words while facing their canvas away from themselves. Everyone else has to guess what the increasingly ridiculous artwork is supposed to represent before the timer runs out.

Our award judges loved how the game turned questionable artistic skills into a reason for everyone to laugh together. It's particularly appealing for mixed-age groups, as nobody needs to be a talented artist to join in.

With simple rules and plenty of unpredictable moments, it's the sort of game that could become a Christmas afternoon favourite.

I was really excited when I looked in the box and saw it was a drawing game. I found the drawing part quite tricky but really funny. I'd definitely play it again!

Child judge Heidi, aged 10

6. VTech Kitty Life: Secret Life of Kitty

VTech Kitty Life_ Secret Life of Kitty

Gold, Best Interactive Toy for Younger Kids

For children who dream of having their own pet, VTech Kitty Life: Secret Life of Kitty combines the responsibility of caring for an animal with the excitement of a miniature games console.

Children can choose their own virtual kitten, feed and care for it, or switch into Adventure Mode to explore different missions, mini-games and treasure hunts.

Our award judges loved the variety, particularly how children could move between nurturing play and more action-packed adventures.

Parent award judge Hollie tested Kitty Life with her five-year-old daughter, Margot, who named her ginger kitten Fluff and quickly became attached to her new virtual pet.

I love that I can move the cat around and feed it. It feels like a fidget toy when I use the paw buttons!

Margot, aged 5, child award judge

Hollie was impressed by how much Margot discovered independently, although she found some of the paw-shaped controls took practice to master.

7. LeapFrog Scan & Learn Checkout

LeapFrog Scan & Learn Checkout

Gold, Best Role Play Toy

Calling all little shopkeepers! The LeapFrog Scan & Learn Checkout turns a familiar supermarket trip into a fun, interactive role-play adventure.

Children can scan pretend groceries, press buttons, handle play money and take turns being the customer or cashier. With a light-up scanner, realistic checkout sounds and 30 learning buttons, there's plenty to discover.

The clever part is how naturally it introduces early maths and money skills. Children can practise counting, recognising numbers and using everyday language, all while playing shop.

It's a particularly appealing Christmas gift for preschoolers who love copying what Mum and Dad do during the weekly food shop.

My 3-year-old son loves this toy. He is engaged and will play with this for extended periods of time both independently and with his brother. It is lovely to have a toy which allows collaborative play with them.

Parent judge Katie

8. PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker

PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker

Gold, Best Tech Toy

For children who love playing video games, PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker offers something even more exciting: the chance to create their own.

Children start by drawing a game design on paper, then use the PIXICADE app to turn their artwork into a playable digital adventure. They can create platform games, mazes and other challenges, experimenting with different ideas as they go.

The kit includes washable markers and an activity book packed with inspiration, but children can also use ordinary paper once they've worked through the included challenges.

Our award judges recognised how cleverly it combines creativity, problem-solving and digital play. Rather than simply consuming a game, children get to discover what happens when they're the ones designing it.

My 8-year-old son absolutely loved it. He dreams of becoming a game developer, and he was genuinely desperate to play with it all of the time!

Parent judge Laura

9. CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack

CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack

Gold, Best Construction Toy

All the fun of magnetic tile construction, packed into a travel-friendly little box.

The CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack includes colourful magnetic tiles in different shapes, encouraging children to build houses, towers, patterns and whatever else they can imagine.

Its compact format makes it particularly handy for holidays, visits to grandparents or keeping children entertained away from home. The tiles are also compatible with other CONNETIX sets, so families can add them to an existing collection.

Our award judges loved how easy it was for children to get creative without needing lots of instructions.

Parent award judge Robyn tested the pack with her four-year-old son, Albie, who loved being able to take the pack with him when they left the house.

Since the moment he opened it, he’s barely stopped playing with it, and even when he gets something else out to play with (dinosaurs/cars for example) he will find a way to incorporate the magnets too. He’s also asked to take them with us everywhere we’ve been, and he’s really enjoyed being able to use the tin as a base and play with these on the go.

Parent judge Robyn

It's a lovely gift for little builders who enjoy open-ended play, with plenty of possibilities despite the smaller number of pieces.

10. Sophie la girafe Original Teether

Sophie la girafe Original Teether

Gold, Best Baby Toy

Some toys become classics for a reason, and Sophie la girafe has been winning over babies since 1961.

Made from natural rubber, this lightweight teether is designed for tiny hands to grasp, with soft ears, horns and legs that babies can explore with their mouths. Its distinctive spots, gentle squeak and different textures offer plenty of sensory interest, even before teething begins.

Our award judges were impressed by how consistently babies reached for Sophie. Parent award judge Elle tested the teether with her five-month-old daughter, Nura, who quickly made it a favourite.

My child Nura is five months old and she loved the toy and reached out for it and chose to play with it over and over.

Parent award judge Elle

It's a lovely first gift for a new baby, and a familiar favourite that continues to earn its place in the toy box.

MadeForMums Toy Awards 2026: All the winners

Ready to explore the full list? Here are the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Editor's Choice winners across all 28 categories, with details of what makes each toy special.

Best baby toy

The best baby toys don't need endless bells and whistles. Our award judges looked for products that captured little ones' attention, offered interesting sensory experiences and were practical enough for parents to reach for every day.

Joint Gold: Sophie la girafe Original Teether

Sophie la girafe Original Teether

There's a reason Sophie la girafe remains such a familiar face in baby toy collections. Made from natural rubber, with a lightweight body and different shapes to grasp and chew, she's designed for the earliest stages of exploration.

Our award judges were particularly impressed by how consistently babies chose Sophie over other teethers. Five-month-old Nura, for example, repeatedly reached for her and enjoyed exploring the different textures.

Award judge Elle, Nura's mum, found the teether became a firm favourite.

My child repeatedly chose to play with this toy over others and lost interest in all other teethers after we received this one. She could play with it for about 20 minutes which is a long time for her.

Parent award judge Elle

Joint Gold: Bebebow Baby Sensory Arch

Bebebow Baby Sensory Arch

Designed to engage young babies during floor play, the Bebebow Baby Sensory Arch uses high-contrast imagery and visual stimulation to encourage little ones to look, focus and explore.

Its lightweight, freestanding design can be positioned in different ways, making it useful for encouraging visual tracking, tummy time and early movement.

Our award judges appreciated having an activity they could introduce during everyday waking periods, especially when babies were still too young for more complicated toys.

Award judge Sophie tested the arch with her 12-week-old son, Jacob, and found it fitted naturally into their daily routine.

This product has become a solid staple in our day, and used at every wake window.

Parent award judge Sophie

Silver: Chicco Tummy Pod 4 in 1

Chicco Tummy Pod 4 in 1 Olive

Tummy time can be a challenge, so anything that makes floor play more inviting is welcome. The Chicco Tummy Pod offers several ways to support early play, with soft padding, a removable toy bar and different configurations for younger babies.

Its adaptable design makes it particularly appealing during the first few months, when babies are developing their head control and beginning to explore the world around them.

Our award judges appreciated the quality of the materials, although testing also highlighted that more mobile babies may quickly outgrow its appeal. The Tummy Pod is therefore best suited to families looking for support during those earlier stages.

Robyn, who tested it with her 5-month-old, Evie, praised its soft construction and versatility.

It is incredibly well made and super soft. It is easy to interchange between modes with soft glide zips and easily removable pads.

Parent award judge Robyn

Bronze: Taf Toys Peek Pop and Play Station

Taf Toys Peek Pop and Play Station

With a mirror, playful characters and interactive elements to discover, this portable activity station gives babies plenty to look at and touch.

Features including a rattle ball, squeaky panda and mirror encourage little ones to investigate different sounds, textures and movements. Its lightweight design also makes it easy to move between rooms or take on outings.

Our award judges found its individual features engaging, particularly for younger babies who are still happy spending time exploring toys in one place.

Award judge Hattie tested the station with her 10-month-old daughter, Lyra. Although Lyra's attention was brief, some of the sensory elements still caught her interest.

My child did enjoy elements of the toy for short periods of time - her favourite parts were the squeaky panda and the mirror.

Parent award judge Hattie

Editor's Choice: Chicco Mia Rocker

Chicco Mia Rocker

A comfortable baby rocker can be a useful addition to family life, giving parents a practical place for their little one to relax while supervised.

The Chicco Mia Rocker combines a soft, padded seat with adjustable reclining positions, a gentle rocking function, vibration, melodies and hanging toys to encourage early exploration.

Its combination of comfort and everyday practicality helped it earn an Editor's Choice award. Our testers particularly appreciated the supportive seat and soothing functions, although the hanging toys weren't equally engaging for every baby.

Parent award judge Claire tested the rocker with her six-month-old daughter, Mali, and praised its comfort and sturdy construction.

The Chicco Mia Rocker is really comfortable, the chair is really nice and soft and well made. The base is well made very sturdy

Parent award judge Claire

Best toddler toy

Toddlers are constantly on the move, discovering new skills and finding fresh ways to play. This year's winners encourage everything from early walking and music-making to energetic indoor adventures, with toys that can keep up with curious little explorers.

Gold: VTech First Steps Baby Walker

VTech First Steps Baby Walker

A classic early-years favourite with plenty to discover, the VTech First Steps Baby Walker combines a push-along walker with an interactive activity centre designed to entertain little ones before and during those exciting first steps.

With piano keys, a drum button, spinning elements, a guitar slider and a removable microphone, there's plenty to keep curious hands busy. The activity panel can also be detached for sit-down play, while a motion sensor triggers sounds as children push the walker along.

Our award judges particularly appreciated the combination of musical play and movement, making this a versatile choice for babies developing their confidence on their feet.

Parent award judge Stephanie, who tested the walker with her 12-month-old daughter, praised its lightweight design and manoeuvrability.

This was easy to set up and very easy to use. It is light compared to wooden walkers we have used in the past. This has meant that my small 12 month old is able to move it and negotiate corners with ease, where she has struggled to do this with heavier walkers.

Parent award judge Stephanie

Silver: Active Tots 4in1 Wooden Toddler Table

Active Tots 4in1 Wooden Toddler Table

A dedicated activity table can quickly become the heart of a toddler's playroom, and this clever wooden design offers four different ways to play in one.

Made from sustainably sourced pinewood, the Active Tots table transforms between a regular play table, building-block board, chalkboard and sensory-play tub. It's designed to encourage creativity, construction and hands-on exploration, while the sage green finish makes it a stylish addition to family spaces.

Our award judges appreciated the versatility, particularly the opportunity to switch activities as children's interests change. The different play surfaces also mean it's more than just a table for drawing or crafts.

Parent award judge Anastasia, who tested it with her 2-year-old daughter Ophelia, particularly liked the building-block surface, which offers another way to use the table as children grow.

I like the addition of the Lego plate so that the table can continue to be used as she ages up.

Parent award judge Anastasia

Bronze: Liberty House Toys Kids Jungle Ball Pit

Liberty House Toys Kids Jungle Ball Pit

Who doesn't love a ball pit? This jungle-themed design brings a little soft-play magic into the home, giving toddlers a dedicated space for crawling, reaching, throwing and imaginative adventures.

With soft foam sides, a machine-washable cover and 200 colourful balls, the pit encourages active and sensory play. Its jungle design adds a playful touch, while the enclosed space gives little ones somewhere to invent their own games.

Our award judges found that children enjoyed much more than simply playing with the balls. Some used the pit as a pretend bathtub, while others hid toys among the balls or practised counting as they threw them in.

Parent award judge Nusrat tested the ball pit with her two-year-old daughter, Aaminah, who was delighted with her new play space.

I love it so much, mama.

Aaminah, aged 2, child award judge

Editor's Choice: Halilit Melody Chimes

Halilit Melody Chimes

Sometimes the simplest toys provide the most entertainment, and these colourful musical chimes are a lovely example.

Designed for little hands, the Halilit Melody Chimes encourage children to experiment with different sounds using an easy-to-hold mallet. The chimes can be rearranged, allowing toddlers to explore how changing their order creates different musical patterns.

They're also suitable for use during bath time, adding another opportunity for musical play. Our award judges appreciated their versatility, sturdy construction and the freedom they gave children to make music independently.

Parent award judge Chloe tested the chimes with her two-year-old son, Ivar, who loved experimenting with the sounds.

My 2 year old son Ivar loved this toy. He is a very loud and energetic child and loved the ability to make noise and music on his own. He was really excited when we opened it, continuously saying 'wow' and 'my turn'.

Parent award judge Chloe

Best sensory play

Sensory toys invite children to explore the world through touch, sight, sound and movement. This year's winners range from hands-on messy play to cosy hideaways and fascinating light-up activities, with plenty of opportunities for children to follow their curiosity.

Gold: Jellystone Designs Messy Tray Play Bundle Kit

Jellystone Designs Messy Tray Play Bundle Kit

If your child loves messy play but you'd rather not spend half the afternoon clearing it up, this clever sensory kit could be just the thing.

Available in dinosaur and unicorn themes, the Jellystone Designs Messy Tray Play Bundle Kit includes a divided play tray, sensory snow, figurines and accessories. Children can scoop, pour, sort and create miniature worlds, then change things up with different materials such as rice, sand or water.

There's a practical side for parents, too. The tray has a lid for storing everything between play sessions, helping make sensory activities a little easier to manage.

Our award judges particularly enjoyed how the kit encouraged children to invent their own activities. One young tester was so taken with the dinosaur theme that he began creating volcano adventures and asking to try new ideas.

Myles seemed to love this toy and was very interested in it. He was very excited and loved the dinosaur theme. He was happy to see and name the different dinosaurs. He thought it was cool, sparkly and squidgy and said 'wow!' many times so it has his approval!

Parent award judge Samantha

Silver: Liberty House Toys Kids Cosy Corner Tent

Liberty House Toys Kids Cosy Corner Tent

Sometimes children need a little space of their own, and this cosy sensory tent creates a snug retreat for reading, relaxing or enjoying some quiet play.

Its blackout design helps reduce distractions, while a colour-changing sensory lamp and soft blanket make the space feel extra inviting. The tent also folds away into a storage bag when it's not needed.

Our award judges loved how children made the space their own, turning it into everything from a secret den to a quiet reading corner.

Parent award judge Ellen tested the tent with her three-year-old son, William, who particularly enjoyed the darkness, lights and cosy blanket.

I like the light and it has lots of stars and moons on it. It closes me in and is really really dark. The blanket is soft and cosy. I want to play with it everyday because it’s fun.

William, aged 3, child award judge

Bronze: Glo Pals Mini Sensory Jar Set

Glo Pals Mini Sensory Jar Set

Small enough for little hands to hold, these colourful sensory jars offer a lovely combination of light, movement and hands-on exploration.

Simply add water and the jar lights up, cycling through nine colours. Children can tap it to change the light, shake it and watch the included silicone shapes swirl around inside. The locking lid helps keep everything contained, while an automatic timer switches the lights off after 15 minutes.

It's a particularly appealing choice for children who enjoy watching colours and movement, whether during playtime or a quieter moment.

Parent award judge Katie tested the jar with her 19-month-old son, Lucas, and found that it could be both exciting and calming.

Lucas (age 19 months) loves the Glo pals jar, he excitedly points at it and is eager to grab it to change the colours of the light through shaking or hitting the lid.

Parent award judge Katie

Bronze: Liberty House Toys Light Table and Two Chairs

Liberty House Toys Light Table and Two Chairs

A light-up activity table can make familiar toys feel exciting all over again, and this set offers plenty of ways for children to explore colours, shapes and creative activities.

The table features seven colour settings, with a removable cover that allows it to double as a regular children's table. Two matching chairs make it easy for siblings or friends to play together, whether they're experimenting with translucent building tiles, drawing or sorting colourful objects.

Our award judges found that the lights added an extra dimension to everyday play. Some children enjoyed pressing the button to change the colours, while others used the illuminated surface with their favourite construction toys.

Parent award judge Megan tested the table with her two daughters, including four-year-old Amelia, who was already planning her next activity.

I loved it. It's the best. I want to play sand on all the colours.

Amelia, aged 4, child award judge

Editor's Choice: Halilit Glow Drum

For little ones who love making noise, this colourful drum combines musical play with an eye-catching light show.

The Halilit Glow Drum features a 14cm drum surface that lights up in four colours as children play. It comes with two easy-to-hold beaters, which clip onto the rim for storage, and encourages toddlers to experiment with different rhythms using either the beaters or their hands.

Our award judges appreciated how quickly children understood the connection between making a sound and seeing the lights respond. The drum also proved popular during shared play, with siblings using it alongside other musical instruments.

Parent award judge Abi tested the drum with her 23-month-old son, Brody, who kept returning to it.

This has been played with daily since we got it and Brody will happily bring it over to say “on please mommy”.

Parent award judge Abi

Best role play toy

Whether they're running a supermarket, serving ice cream or making a pretend coffee, children love copying the world around them. This year's winners turn everyday routines into imaginative adventures, with plenty of opportunities for storytelling, creativity and playing together.

Children can scan their shopping, count coins, take payments and switch between being the customer and the shopkeeper. With music and number activities to discover, it's a fun way to introduce early maths skills without making playtime feel like a lesson.

Our award judges particularly loved how much imaginative play it inspired. Children created their own shops, served family members and even brought their favourite cuddly toys along as customers.

Parent award judge Katie tested the checkout with her three-year-old daughter, Summer, who couldn't wait to get started.

My just turned 3 year old daughter Summer absolutely loves this toy. She’s really into role play at the moment and has spent hours playing with this every single day. She loved that she felt like mummy going to the supermarket and making all the food beep on the scanner before paying for it.

It's the sort of toy that naturally draws everyone into the game, whether they're ordering a pretend cone or helping to run a busy ice cream parlour.

Parent award judge Hannah tested the ice cream parlour with her four-year-old daughter, Anastasia, who 'screamed with delight' when she opened the toy and loved exploring how all the different pieces work together.

Our award judges found that children particularly enjoyed putting the pods into the machine and pretending to make drinks for their families, although some younger testers needed help removing the blocks from their holders.

Parent award judge Brook tested the coffee machine with her 21-month-old daughter, Maeve, who enjoyed playing cafés with her family.

She enjoyed playing cafe with me and her brother, making us pretend drinks. I think she will definitely play with it again.

Moose Toys Luvibubs

Imagine planting a seed and watching a baby doll grow before your eyes. That's the magic behind Moose Toys Luvibubs, which turns unboxing a new toy into a memorable experience.

Our award judges loved the excitement of the reveal, but also appreciated that children continued playing with their dolls afterwards, inventing stories and including them in everyday adventures.

Parent award judge Carly tested Luvibubs with her two daughters and saw just how exciting the growing moment could be.

Our award judges found that the colour-changing feature was a real highlight, encouraging children to return to the doll again and again. It also inspired imaginative play beyond hairstyling, from dressing up as Rapunzel to putting on performances inspired by the film.

Parent award judge Tina tested the doll with her five-year-old daughter, Alicia, who was particularly taken with Rapunzel's appearance.

Parent award judge Sophie tested Emma with her four-year-old daughter, Aria, who quickly welcomed the doll into the family.

Editor's Choice: BABY born Swimming Lizzie

BABY born Swimming Lizzie

A doll that can actually swim? That's the clever idea behind BABY born Swimming Lizzie, a colourful little companion designed for bath time and water adventures.

Unlike traditional dolls, Lizzie can move through the water using a wind-up mechanism. Simply wind her arms and watch her swim, with no batteries needed. Her bright swimsuit and swimming cap are part of the design, making her ready for a splash whenever children are.

Our Editor's Choice winner brings an extra element of excitement to water play, encouraging children to invent stories about swimming lessons, trips to the pool and seaside adventures.

It's a fun way to combine imaginative doll play with bath-time entertainment, particularly for toddlers who are fascinated by water.

Parent award judge Lorne tested the doll with her one-year-old daughter, Ciara, for whom the doll became a firm favourite.

My 1 year old was so excited when she seen the doll which has now became a firm favourite of hers to take everywhere she goes. As the doll is being wound up to swim, she squeals with happiness saying 'again' as she waits.

Parent award judge Lorne

Best soft toy

Some toys are made for adventures, while others are destined to become bedtime favourites. Our soft-toy winners combine character, comfort and plenty of cuddle appeal, from wonderfully weird monsters to adorable animal companions.

Gold: Fuggler Baddies

Fuggler Baddies

Forget traditional teddy bears. With their cheeky expressions, mischievous personalities and unmistakable human-like teeth, Fuggler Baddies are anything but ordinary cuddly toys.

These colourful plush monsters are designed to make children laugh, with wonderfully odd faces that give each character its own personality. And despite their deliberately naughty appearance, they're surprisingly soft and snuggly.

Our award judges found that the Fugglers inspired plenty of imaginative play, from pretend cooking games to making up stories about their new monster friends. They also proved popular with children who already had a collection of cuddly toys.

Parent award judge Bethany tested Fuggler Baddies with her eight-year-old son, Ethan, who quickly welcomed his new monster into his treasured soft-toy collection.

His 'monster' as he has called it has slept in bed with him every night with a chosen few teddies. He is being very protective and not letting anyone else touch it, which is a sign its growing to be a favourite. To Ethan, his 'monster' is a great addition to his collection and he loves it very much.

Parent award judge Bethany

Silver: Miffy and Friends TV Plush

Miffy and Friends TV Plush

Miffy and her friends make the leap from screen to sofa in this adorable collection of plush characters, offering little ones a familiar face to cuddle, carry and include in their adventures.

The range includes Miffy and her friends, with soft fabrics, gentle colours and simple character designs that make them appealing to younger children. They're just as suited to imaginative play as they are to snuggling up at storytime.

Our award judges loved how naturally children incorporated the toys into their everyday routines. Some treated them like babies, feeding them and taking them out in pushchairs, while others created their own games and stories.

Parent award judge Amy found that her two-year-old daughter, Emmie, became particularly attached to Uncle Pilot, who soon earned a place in her bedtime routine.

My teddies are fun to play with. I like to cuddle Uncle Pilot in my bed, he has a good sleep with me.

Emmie, aged 2, child award judge

Bronze: Water Babies Cloudfish Soft Toy

Water Babies Cloudfish Soft Toy

Part fluffy cloud, part colourful fish, this cheerful little character brings an underwater twist to the traditional cuddly toy.

Inspired by the Water Babies swimming programme, Cloudfish features a soft white body, rainbow-coloured fins and tail, and embroidered details. Its lightweight design makes it easy for little hands to hold, while the different textures add an extra sensory element.

Our award judges found that the bright colours were a particular hit with younger children. Some enjoyed cuddling Cloudfish, while older testers used it to invent underwater adventures and pretend swimming games.

Parent award judge Leah tested Cloudfish with her family, with her three-year-old son and seven-month-old niece both enjoying the toy, while her 14-month-old daughter was less engaged.

My niece who is 7 months old showed a very positive response and was smiling and laughing when I was playing with the toy with her. My son, who is three, also kept returning to play with the toy, along with his brother who is four.

Parent award judge Leah

Editor's Choice: cuddle+kind Evelyn the Golden Puppy

cuddle+kind Evelyn the Golden Puppy

With her floppy puppy ears, ballet-pink outfit and delicate daisy crown, Evelyn the Golden Puppy is the sort of soft toy that feels extra special from the moment you unwrap her.

Lovingly hand-knitted in Peru using cotton yarn, Evelyn combines a timeless design with thoughtful details, including a layered tutu and a little personality of her own to inspire imaginative play.

There's also a meaningful story behind the brand. For every cuddle+kind doll sold, the company says it provides 10 meals to children in need, adding an extra feel-good element to a special gift.

Our award judges appreciated the craftsmanship and the way children incorporated Evelyn into everyday play, from cuddles and pretend feeding to imaginative family adventures.

Parent award judge Beth tested Evelyn with her two-year-old daughter, Ava-Marie, who was immediately affectionate towards her new puppy friend.

Ava-Marie was amazed when we opened the packaging Evelyn arrived in and she was happy from the moment she saw her. She loved holding her, cuddling her and playing with and alongside her.

Parent award judge Beth

Best interactive toy for younger kids

For little ones who love toys that respond to them, interactive companions can create wonderful moments of surprise. This year's winners include virtual pets, giggling characters and cuddly animals that encourage children to play, laugh and care for their new friends.

Gold: VTech Kitty Life: Secret Life of Kitty

VTech Kitty Life_ Secret Life of Kitty

For children who dream of having a pet cat, VTech Kitty Life: Secret Life of Kitty offers a playful alternative, combining virtual pet care with interactive adventures.

Children can choose their kitten, give it a name and look after it by feeding, playing and exploring together. There's also an adventure mode, where they guide their furry friend through different challenges using the toy's paw-shaped controls.

Our award judges particularly loved the variety of activities, which kept children discovering new things rather than repeating the same game. The option to switch between caring for a pet and heading off on adventures also gave the toy plenty of replay appeal.

Parent award judge Hollie tested Kitty Life with her five-year-old daughter, Margot, who chose a ginger kitten called Fluff and quickly became absorbed in its adventures.

I love it because it's so cute. I love that I can move the cat around and feed it. It feels like a fidget toy when I use the paw buttons!

Margot, aged 5, child award judge

Silver: Sesame Street Tickle Me Elmo Giggle Max

Sesame Street Tickle Me Elmo Giggle Max

Elmo is back, and he's ready to giggle! Celebrating 30 years of the original Tickle Me Elmo, this supersized version brings the much-loved Sesame Street character to life with plenty of laughter and movement.

Standing 18 inches tall, Elmo responds when children tickle his tummy or feet, with his giggles becoming more enthusiastic the longer they play. He also says familiar phrases, making him an entertaining companion for younger Sesame Street fans.

Our award judges recognised the appeal of a toy that children can interact with so easily, with its soft, cuddly design offering plenty of comfort between bursts of laughter.

Parent award judge Laura tested Elmo with her nearly-two-year-old son Rowan who couldn't stop playing with his new toy.

Rowan, who is nearly two, adores his Elmo toy. His excitement when seeing him for the first time was infectious, and he has played with him multiple times over the past few days. He has insisted he bring Elmo with him when we go out, so he seems to be a new favourite toy.

Parent award judge Laura

Bronze: Nintendo Super Mario Yum Yum Yoshi

Nintendo Super Mario Yum Yum Yoshi

Yoshi's famous appetite becomes a real-life game with this interactive figure, bringing a familiar Nintendo character into hands-on play.

Children can lean Yoshi forwards to extend his tongue and try to pick up the included fruit, recreating one of the character's best-known moves. His bright colours and recognisable design make him particularly appealing to little Super Mario fans.

Our award judges found that the toy made a strong first impression, although some younger testers struggled to position the fruit correctly and became frustrated when Yoshi couldn't pick it up. It's therefore likely to appeal most to children who enjoy collecting Mario characters as well as playing with them.

Parent award judge Jessica tested Yoshi with her six-year-old son, Teddy, who was delighted when he first saw the toy.

I love him, he’s so cool and cute!

Teddy, aged 6, child award judge

Editor's Choice: furReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger

furReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger

Imagine having a pet tiger that actually grows as you look after it. That's the magic behind furReal Gabby the Grow & Roar Tiger, an interactive plush that transforms from a small cub into a bigger cat through nurturing play.

Children can feed Gabby, stroke her, play with her and even roar at her to encourage a response. With more than 100 combinations of sounds and movements, there's plenty to discover. And once she's fully grown, a button on her back returns her to cub size so the fun can start all over again.

Our award judges loved how the growing feature encouraged children to take on a caring role. Gabby became part of everyday family life, accompanying little testers on outings, joining in at mealtimes and becoming a much-loved companion.

Parent award judge Chloe tested Gabby with her four-year-old daughter, Elsie, who quickly became devoted to her new tiger.

My daughter is absolutely enchanted by this toy. She has not left it alone since we received it, often even taking it to bed with her or out in the car on trips. She absolutely loves the aspect of having to care for Gabby in order for her to grow.

Parent award judge Chloe

Best interactive toy for older kids

Older children often want interactive toys with a little more personality, humour and opportunities to experiment. This year's winners bring much-loved characters and wonderfully weird creatures to life, combining clever technology with imaginative play.

Gold: Fuggler Puppetronics

Fuggler Puppetronics

Fugglers have always been a little bit weird, but these interactive versions take their mischievous personalities to a whole new level.

Standing around 14 inches tall, Fuggler Puppetronics combine traditional puppetry with electronic features that let children control their monster's expressions and movements. With more than 60 sounds and actions, including burps, farts and plenty of Fuggler-style nonsense, they're guaranteed to appeal to children who love silly humour.

There are four characters to collect, including Rabid Rabbit and Sketchy Squirrel. And when two Puppetronics meet, they can interact with each other, creating even more opportunities for funny conversations and imaginative stories.

Our award judges loved how the toys encouraged children to become performers, inventing voices, putting on shows and creating elaborate stories featuring their favourite Fugglers.

Child award judge Isabella-Mai, 11 years old, was particularly excited about how much more expressive the interactive version was compared with the Fugglers already in their collection.

Fuggler is so much fun and I love that he talks back to me. I love Fugglers but i have never had one that interacted back with me. Normally I do all of the talking and my other Fugglers never react with their faces and I have to imagine how they feel. The Fuggler puppetronic is different! He can look shocked and tired. He's really funny and I love playing with him.

Isabella-Mai, aged 11, child award judge

Silver: Pikachu Puppetronic by RealFX

Pikachu Puppetronic by RealFX

For Pokémon fans who've always dreamed of having their very own Pikachu, this interactive companion is about as close as it gets.

Standing 40cm tall, Pikachu combines soft plush with clever puppetry technology, allowing children to control his movements and expressions. His eyes blink, ears move, cheeks light up and mouth moves in time with his sounds, creating a surprisingly lifelike experience.

With more than 120 sound and action combinations, including familiar electric attacks, there's plenty for Pokémon fans to discover. Touch sensors also allow Pikachu to respond when children stroke his head or nose.

Our award judges were particularly impressed by the realistic movements and the excitement of having a favourite character respond to them. Some younger testers found the internal controls a little tricky at first, but this also gave them a new skill to practise.

Parent award judge Kayleigh tested Pikachu with her eight-year-old son, Rex, who loved showing his new companion to his brothers and friends.

Wow this Pikachu is amazing! It does such cool things and I love its special electric attacks. I love having my own Pikachu. I have always wanted my own Pokemon and this is like one and it being my own best friend.

Rex, aged 8, child award judge

Bronze: Minions Palm Puppetronics

Minions Palm Puppetronics

The Minions are already experts at making children laugh, and these palm-sized interactive puppets give fans the chance to create their own silly conversations.

Choose from Henry, Dick and James, each with their own personality, sounds and reactions. The puppets feature moving eyes, animated mouths and more than 40 sounds and actions, allowing children to bring their favourite characters to life.

And the fun gets even sillier when two or more Minions are together. They can interact with each other, triggering giggles, burps, farts and plenty of the familiar Minion nonsense.

Our award judges found that children particularly enjoyed making the characters talk to one another, although fitting the batteries proved fiddly for some parents.

Parent award judge Carly tested the puppets with her seven-year-old daughter, Sienna, who was fascinated by their expressive faces.

She loved that their eyes can move and blink! It’s like they’re talking to each other in real life

Parent award judge Carly

Best tech toy

The best tech toys do more than flash and beep. They give children something exciting to create, discover or control. This year's winners include digital game-making, stop-motion animation, expressive robots and active gaming, proving that technology can encourage plenty of creativity and hands-on fun.

Joint Gold: PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker

PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker

What if your child could draw their very own video game? That's the brilliant idea behind PIXICADE Mobile Game Maker, which transforms drawings on paper into playable digital adventures.

Children use coloured markers to design characters, obstacles and game elements, then scan their creations using the PIXICADE app. Their drawings become interactive games that they can play, edit and share, with opportunities to make things more challenging as their confidence grows.

Our award judges loved how it combined screen time with creativity and problem-solving. Rather than simply playing somebody else's game, children were planning their own levels, experimenting with ideas and making improvements when something didn't work.

Parent award judge Brooke tested PIXICADE with her nine-year-old daughter, Athena, who particularly enjoyed combining two of her favourite hobbies.

My daughter loves it! Her two favourite things are drawing and gaming and this is the best of both worlds in one app, but it’s not just screen time it’s drawing and getting creative, it’s problem solving and fun!

Parent award judge Brooke

Joint Gold: HUE Animation Toolbox

HUE Animation Toolbox

For budding filmmakers, the HUE Animation Toolbox is packed with possibilities, giving children everything they need to start creating their own stop-motion films.

The kit includes a camera, animation software, modelling materials, a green screen and a book of creative projects. Children can build miniature sets, position their characters and capture movements frame by frame before watching their ideas come to life on screen.

It's particularly rewarding for patient, imaginative children who enjoy storytelling, making things and experimenting with technology. There is a learning curve, though, and younger children may need some adult help with the initial setup.

Parent award judge Niharika tested the kit with her eight-year-old daughter, Arya, who was delighted to discover she could turn her own stories into animations.

I loved how I can see my imaginations come alive and it's so much fun to use and play with! I want to create more animations and want to include my own toys to see my stories made alive all by myself on the screen.

Arya, aged 8, child award judge

Silver: emotoBOT Interactive Robot

emotoBOT Interactive Robot

Meet emotoBOT, an expressive little robot with a big personality. Designed to respond to touch and sound, this interactive companion uses animated facial expressions, movements and playful conversations to keep children entertained.

There are more than 100 ways to interact, including games, jokes, dancing and yoga activities. Children can also add accessories such as headphones, a pretend drink and a phone to unlock different reactions and personality modes.

One particularly appealing feature for parents is that emotoBOT works without Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or an internet connection. It also has a rechargeable battery, making it a self-contained interactive toy.

Our award judges recognised the variety of activities and opportunities for children to experiment with different responses, helping emotoBOT earn Silver.

Parent award judge Marketa tested emotoBOT with her seven-year-old daughter, Sophie-Mae, who found the robot's facial expressions hilarious and liked playing the games and dancing with it.

My daughter enjoyed playing with the little robot and she thought it was really cute. She liked that it asked her questions to which she was responding, she also enjoyed playing the games and pretending to take the robot for a walk (when she turned it into a puppy).

Parent award judge Marketa

Bronze: Sonic Speed Star Lightning Drifting RC

Sonic Speed Star Lightning Drifting RC

Ready, set, race! This Sonic the Hedgehog remote-control car brings the excitement of the video games into the real world, complete with light-up wheels and speedy drifting action.

Children can choose between standard driving and a special drift mode that allows the car to slide and perform 360-degree spins. The steering-wheel-style controller is designed to be easy to use, while the different driving modes give children new tricks to practise as they become more confident.

Our award judges found that the drifting feature was a particular highlight, especially for children who already enjoyed playing with remote-control vehicles.

Parent award judge Lucy tested the car with her five-year-old son, Leo, who enjoyed experimenting with the different movements.

Really fun to play with, I like that it slides and the wheels!

Leo, child award judge, aged 5

Editor's Choice: Nex Playground

Nex Playground

Looking for a way to get the whole family moving during gaming sessions? Nex Playground offers a clever alternative to traditional video games, using body movements rather than handheld controllers.

The compact console connects to a television and uses a built-in camera to track players as they jump, dance, dodge and move their way through different games. Up to four people can play together, making it an appealing option for family game nights, rainy afternoons and energetic playdates.

Five games are included to get families started, including Fruit Ninja, Starri and Whack-a-Mole Deluxe. A wider library is available through an optional paid Play Pass, something worth factoring into the overall cost.

Our Editor's Choice pick stood out for its focus on active, shared play. It encourages children to get off the sofa while still enjoying the excitement of video games, with opportunities for parents and siblings to join in.

Parent award judge Charlene tested the console with her six-year-old son, Isaiah, who has asked to play with it everyday since they started testing and loves that he gets to move around to play rather than using a controller.

I love that you can play with your body and I don’t have to hold a controller. It’s good that we can all play together.

Isaiah, child award judge, aged 6

Best construction toy

Building toys offer almost endless opportunities for children to experiment, problem-solve and proudly show off their creations. This year's winners range from travel-friendly magnetic tiles to ambitious space-themed builds, with plenty to keep little architects and budding engineers busy.

Joint Gold: CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack

CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack

Big building fun in a little tin? That's exactly what the CONNETIX 32-piece Travel Mini Pack delivers, making it a brilliant option for keeping children entertained away from home.

The set includes 32 colourful mini magnetic tiles, reusable stickers and a compact metal carry tin that doubles as a building base. Children can create towers, houses, rockets and miniature creatures, then pick up and move their finished creations thanks to the strong magnetic connections.

Our award judges particularly appreciated the portable design, with the tin small enough to pop into a bag for holidays, restaurant visits or days out. The variety of shapes also encouraged children to experiment with more than just simple towers.

Parent award judge Amy tested the set with her three-year-old daughter, Erin, who was immediately excited by the colourful pieces.

When opening the metal case for the first time Erin loved seeing all of the brightly coloured and different shape magnetic tiles, which very quickly prompted her to take them out of the box. The varied and reusable stickers have also been very much enjoyed by Erin as they are another part of the toy for her to engage with and add extra fun to her magnetic tile creations when they are finished. I think this set is going to be a favourite for a while, especially when we are out and about.

Parent award judge Amy

Joint Gold: Plus-Plus Learn to Build Space Superset

Plus-Plus Learn to Build Space Superset

Calling all future astronauts! With 1,000 colourful pieces, the Plus-Plus Learn to Build Space Superset lets children create their very own universe, from rockets and planets to astronauts, aliens and imaginative space stations.

The clever Plus-Plus pieces all share the same distinctive shape and can be connected to make flat pictures or three-dimensional models. The kit includes baseplates, wheels, hubs and a guidebook to help children get started, alongside plenty of opportunities to invent something completely different.

Our award judges loved the freedom to experiment, although some children found the instructions for the more complicated models challenging. Happily, that didn't stop them making their own creations.

Parent award judge Shauni tested the set with her seven-year-old son, Oscar, who was delighted by how easily he could adapt his designs.

I love these, because even when I build something a little bit wrong, the pieces are so easy to just bend or move. I really feel like I could build anything in the world - or out of this world - with them!

Oscar, aged 7, child award judge

Silver: CONNETIX PRO Build It 4 Ways Animals Pack

CONNETIX PRO Build It 4 Ways Animals Pack

For children ready to take their magnetic tile creations to the next level, the CONNETIX PRO Build It 4 Ways Animals Pack offers a more detailed building challenge.

This 30-piece set includes smaller magnetic tiles designed for creating intricate shapes, with instructions for four animal builds: an elephant, peacock, squirrel and cat. The strong magnets allow children to experiment with different angles and connections, while the carry tin doubles as a building base.

Our award judges found that children enjoyed using the suggested animal designs as a starting point, but often had even more fun inventing their own creatures and structures.

Parent award judge Anne-Marie tested the set with her six-year-old son, George, and three-year-old son, Alfie. George particularly enjoyed adapting the pieces into his own imaginative creations.

I liked it because I liked the animals but it was annoying because the instructions didn’t match what we had in the box. I would like to have the construction ones because I like the look of them.

George, aged 6, child award judge

Bronze: MAX Build More Premium Retro S2

MAX Build More Premium Retro S2

A miniature games console, electric guitar or vintage camera might not be the first things you'd expect children to build, but that's part of the fun of MAX Build More Premium Retro Series 2.

Each collectable capsule contains up to 188 building bricks and instructions to create one of four retro-inspired designs, including a cassette player. Once completed, the models can be displayed on a shelf, making them particularly appealing to children who enjoy both building and collecting.

Our award judges appreciated the affordable price and the satisfaction of completing a detailed model. Some children found the instructions less straightforward than those from other construction brands, but they were proud of their finished creations.

Parent award judge Sarah tested the set with her 10-year-old son, Oliver, who particularly enjoyed building the retro games console.

It's really cool and I want the others, the electric guitar is the next one I want. The bricks connected together easily and the end result is so cool.

Oliver, aged 10, child award judge

Editor's Choice: Plus-Plus Moomin Valley Tinbox

Plus-Plus Moomin Valley Tinbox

Two much-loved Nordic names come together in this charming construction set, giving Moomin fans the chance to build their own little corner of Moominvalley.

The reusable metal tin contains 500 Plus-Plus pieces, baseplates and accessories, with instructions for creating familiar Moomin characters and scenery. Children can follow the designs or use the pieces to invent their own buildings, characters and adventures.

It's a lovely combination of construction and imaginative play, particularly for children who enjoy creating a world before making up stories about what happens there. The tin also makes it easier to keep everything together between play sessions.

Our award judges found that the building challenge could be tricky for some children, particularly when following the more complicated instructions. However, others loved the freedom to create their own Moomin-inspired world.

Parent award judge Lauryn tested the set with her six-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Eliza, who enjoyed both building and playing with the finished creations.

I really liked how you can take it apart and then build it all over again. Yes I would play with it over and over again. It was so much fun and I like how you can play with the characters and how some of them even glow in the dark.

Eliza, aged 6, child award judge

Best marble and ball run

There's something endlessly satisfying about watching a ball race through a track you've built yourself. This year's winners combine construction, problem-solving and plenty of exciting movement, with everything from magnetic launchers to pirate adventures.

Gold: CONNETIX Ball Run Launcher Pack

CONNETIX Ball Run Launcher Pack

Ready, aim, launch! The CONNETIX Ball Run Launcher Pack adds an exciting new twist to magnetic tile construction, allowing children to send wooden balls racing through tracks they've designed themselves.

The 47-piece set includes magnetic connector tiles, clear tubes, two wooden balls and a launcher that sends the balls on their way with one press. Children can experiment with different heights, angles and routes, then see how changing their designs affects the journey.

Our award judges particularly loved the combination of construction and action, which encouraged children to keep rebuilding and experimenting. The pieces are also compatible with other CONNETIX sets, making this an appealing addition for families who already own magnetic tiles.

Some younger testers needed help connecting the tubes, but once the track was built, the launcher proved a big hit.

Parent award judge Rebecca tested the set with her five-year-old son, Mason, who loved finding different ways of playing with the pack.

I really like the launching, I love that I can add it to all my other magnets. I'm going to take it on holiday to Center Parcs.

Mason, aged 5, child award judge

Silver: Marble Rush Adventures Pirate Ship

Marble Rush Adventures Pirate Ship

Ahoy, little adventurers! This action-packed marble run combines construction with pirate-themed storytelling, giving children the chance to build their very own ship before setting sail on imaginary adventures.

With more than 140 building pieces, the Marble Rush Adventures Pirate Ship includes a twisting marble run, a cannonball launcher, a treasure chest, sea-creature targets and a giant octopus to battle. There's even a sound-effects block activated by the marbles.

The colour-coded instructions offer three different building options, while compatibility with other Marble Rush sets gives children opportunities to expand their creations.

Our award judges found that the pirate theme inspired imaginative play well beyond the marble run itself. Children invented treasure hunts, staged battles and used other toys as characters in their adventures.

Some testers found the building instructions challenging, particularly for younger children, but the finished ship offered plenty of entertainment.

Parent award judge Bethany tested the set with her six-year-old son, Thomas, who was especially enthusiastic about the cannonball launcher.

He looooooves the cannon part of the marble run. And loves to play with it every day after school.

Parent award judge Bethany

Bronze: CONNETIX Ball Run Galaxy Pack

CONNETIX Ball Run Galaxy Pack

For children who love building bigger and more elaborate creations, the CONNETIX Ball Run Galaxy Pack offers plenty of scope for experimentation.

With a space-inspired colour palette and magnetic tiles that connect to clear ball-run tubes, children can create winding tracks, tall towers and imaginative routes for their balls to travel.

The appeal lies in the freedom to keep changing things. Children can adjust the layout, test different routes and rebuild their creations, developing their problem-solving skills as they play.

It's particularly suited to children who enjoy construction challenges and want to take their magnetic tile builds beyond simple houses and towers.

Parent award judge Emily tested the set with her five-year-old son, William who wanted to give the toy 100 out of ten.

I like it as it looks like a space galaxy. It is good because I can make any type of space marble run I want to, and I would play with it again because I like building and it’s like space.

Child judge William, aged 5

Best arts and crafts toy or kit

For children who love making things, a good craft kit can turn an ordinary afternoon into something special. This year's winners encourage everything from drawing manga characters and designing personalised stationery to building creations from cardboard, with plenty of opportunities for children to show off their handiwork.

Joint Gold: Learning Resources Boxineers

Learning Resources Boxineers

Got a child who loves turning cardboard boxes into castles, cars or secret hideaways? Learning Resources Boxineers takes that creativity a step further, giving children the tools to transform everyday cardboard into their own imaginative inventions.

Combining crafting with construction, the kit encourages children to plan, build and adapt their designs before using the finished creations for play. It's a particularly appealing idea for children who love making things from scratch rather than simply following instructions.

Our award judges recognised the opportunities for problem-solving and experimentation, with the added satisfaction of creating something children can play with afterwards.

Parent award judge Sian tested the kit with her five-year-old daughter, Nylah, who enjoyed deciding what to create, choosing the pieces and decorations, as well as the satisfaction of building something herself.

I think the combination of making something herself and then being able to play with it afterwards is a big part of what makes this toy so enjoyable - along with the reusable pieces and endless ways to create.

Parent award judge Sian

Joint Gold: Lisciani KIDSART Manga Academy

Lisciani KIDSART Manga Academy

For budding artists who are fascinated by manga-style illustrations, this creative kit offers a fun introduction to drawing their own characters and stories.

The Lisciani KIDSART Manga Academy includes an LCD drawing tablet, a Fude pen, coloured markers, practice sheets and an illustrated guide. Children can learn how to sketch different facial expressions, create characters and develop scenes, building their confidence as they practise.

The step-by-step approach makes it accessible for beginners, while the drawing tablet allows children to experiment, erase and try again without worrying about getting everything right first time.

It's a lovely option for children who enjoy drawing and want to develop their skills, particularly those who are already interested in manga and Japanese-inspired illustration.

Parent award judge Lauren tested the kit with her ten-year-old son Fraiser, who thought the kit was really cool and liked following the step by step videos.

I think the Manga Academy is really fun to do. The Fude pen is hard to use, but once you get the hang of it, it’s good. It’s good that the pen can draw skinny or thick, and you can do both with the same pen. I like that I can make a comic and that I can trace different people all with one set.

Fraiser, aged 10, child award judge

Silver: Giftie Badge Maker

Giftie Badge Maker

There's something wonderfully satisfying about making something you can actually wear, and the Giftie Badge Maker lets children turn their own artwork into colourful, personalised badges.

With materials to make up to 50 badges, children can start with the included templates before moving on to their own drawings, photographs and designs. Finished badges can then be worn, collected or mounted onto the included backing cards to give to friends and family.

Seven-year-old Mabel quickly got the hang of the process and became increasingly creative as she played, experimenting with her own drawings and glitter before making badges for friends, family and her teacher. Fellow seven-year-old tester Malin also returned to the badge maker several times, particularly enjoying the chance to make designs that felt completely her own.

Both families found there was a little trial and error involved in learning how firmly to press the lever, but once mastered, the children were able to get on with making badges largely independently. With 50 badges included, our judges also felt there was plenty here to keep keen crafters busy.

I really like making badges, I like that they are unique. I like making them for my friends because its kind. It's cool and fun and I can express myself. It's kind of difficult with the lever because you don't know if it will work but practice helps me

Malin, age 7, child award judge

Joint Bronze: Pen Maker Magic Deluxe

Pen Maker Magic Deluxe

For children who love both crafting and stationery, Pen Maker Magic Deluxe combines the two by letting them design and assemble their own collection of personalised pens.

The set contains everything needed to make 10 pens, with sequins, beads, crystals, charms and colourful character toppers to mix and match. Children can even add floating decorations inside the pen barrels, giving each finished design its own look before putting it to use.

Eight-year-old Mia loved choosing different combinations and was able to make more pens independently after completing the first one with some help. Seven-year-old Jasmin was equally enthusiastic about the making process, particularly enjoying matching the colours of the pens, decorations and toppers.

Our testers found the craft itself was the biggest part of the appeal, with both girls keen to come back and create new designs. Younger children may need some guidance at first — Jasmin needed help interpreting parts of the instructions — but once she understood the process, she found subsequent pens much easier to make.

At £15 for 10 finished pens plus plenty of decorative pieces, both families felt the kit offered good value, particularly for children who enjoy making usable crafts or creating little gifts for friends and family.

This is so fun. I love all the cool accessories to add into the pens and I love that the toppers are all so cute!

Mia, age 8, child award judge

Joint Bronze: Clementoni KPop Demon Hunters Pen Creator Studio

Clementoni KPop Demon Hunters Pen Creator Studio

Fans of KPop Demon Hunters can put their own spin on their stationery with this colourful pen-making kit, which combines crafting with characters and styling inspired by the film.

Children can create five personalised pens, choosing their own combinations of fillings, colours, decorations and character toppers. It's a relatively quick craft, but the finished pens can then be used for drawing and writing or displayed in the included stand.

Eight-year-old Mia-Susannah particularly enjoyed ignoring the designs shown on the box and experimenting with her own combinations, choosing which fillings, ink colours and toppers worked together. Seven-year-old tester Iris also found the process fun and, after being shown how to make the first pen, was able to continue largely independently.

The finished designs can't be completely remade once assembled, so the creative part of the activity is relatively short-lived. However, our testers enjoyed having something practical to use afterwards, and the KPop Demon Hunters theme added extra appeal for fans.

I really enjoyed making the pens. I really like the choices of fillings for the pens, and the different ink colours.

Editor's Choice: The Original Crafty Case

The Original Crafty Case

Keeping young children entertained on journeys, in restaurants or during rainy days can involve packing an impressive amount of stuff. The Original Crafty Case tackles that problem by fitting 16 different screen-free activities into one organised carry case.

Inside are individual mini cases covering everything from playdough, stamping and stickers to threading, cutting activities, cars and a blow-football game. The variety means children can dip in and out depending on their mood and attention span, while parent play cards provide ideas for getting more from each activity.

Three-and-a-half-year-old Ivy explored the case for around an hour at a time, moving between activities and particularly enjoying the stamps, stickers and cutting games. Four-year-old Archie had his own favourites, repeatedly returning to the playdough, stamps, cars and football game and finding new ways to play with them.

Our judges liked the breadth of activities and the fact that different parts of the case can become more relevant as a child develops. Some games need more adult help than others, and at £62.99 it's a significant purchase, but the reusable mini cases, downloadable activities and option to replenish some of the contents help extend its lifespan.

The compact format also makes it useful for families who want a selection of activities in one place, whether that's for play at home or taking individual mini cases out and about.

As she opened up the crafts case, she said it was amazing. She particularly enjoyed the stamp set and stickers as well as the scissor set including cutting paper along the lines. As my toddler has a short attention span, the mini cases are ideal as there is much a variety of activities to meet various age appropriate problem solving skills.

Best STEM/science toy

Who says learning can't be fun? The best STEM toys encourage children to explore patterns, solve problems and ask questions without making it feel like homework. This year's winners bring science and creativity together, from colourful pixel art to growing a miniature world of plants.

Gold: Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro

Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro

If your child loves puzzles, patterns or making colourful creations, the Learning Resources STEM Explorers Pixel Art Pro is a brilliant way to combine their artistic side with early coding and maths skills.

The set includes 750 lightweight foam cubes in eight colours, a large 20 × 20 activity board and 30 STEAM challenges. Children follow numbered coordinates to recreate pictures, working their way through increasingly tricky designs before inventing their own pixel masterpieces.

Our award judges loved how the activity encouraged concentration, logical thinking and creativity. The hands-on format also meant children could enjoy the satisfaction of finishing a picture without needing a screen.

Parent award judge Rhona tested the set with her seven-year-old son, Finley, who enjoyed both following the challenge booklet and creating his own designs. Rhona was particularly impressed by how engaged he became.

I was really surprised with how well my child engaged with it, I often find it difficult to find toys that hold his attention, but he really enjoyed this one. He picked an image to copy but then once completed went back to create an image of his own.

Parent award judge Rhona

Silver: Clementoni EcoSphere Terrarium

Clementoni EcoSphere Terrarium

For children who love nature, the Clementoni EcoSphere Terrarium offers the chance to create their own miniature green world and discover what plants need to grow.

The kit introduces children to the basics of growing and caring for plants, turning a hands-on activity into an ongoing experiment. Rather than finishing a project in one afternoon, children can return to their terrarium to observe changes, monitor growth and learn about the natural world.

It's a lovely choice for curious children who enjoy gardening, science experiments or spending time outdoors, especially those who like having something of their own to look after.

The longer-term nature of the activity also encourages patience and responsibility, as children discover that growing plants takes time and care.

Leo was so excited to build his own mini ecosphere. He enjoyed putting it all together but found some parts a little fiddly. Leo was really interested in the science behind the ecosphere, we did a little research ourselves. He can’t wait to watch things grow.

Best educational toy

Learning doesn't have to feel like homework. Our winning educational toys bring numbers, counting, matching and everyday skills into games children genuinely want to play. From magnetic maths to colourful animal puzzles, these are toys that make learning feel like an adventure.

Gold: MAGNA-TILES microMAGS LEARN Numbers

MAGNA-TILES microMAGS LEARN Numbers

If your little one loves building and counting, MAGNA-TILES microMAGS LEARN Numbers combines both interests in one colourful magnetic set.

With 56 pieces, including number tiles, counting dots and mathematical symbols, children can build, sort, count and experiment with simple sums. The magnetic pieces make it easy to rearrange numbers and explore different combinations, helping turn early maths into a hands-on activity.

It's also compatible with other MAGNA-TILES sets, so children can combine their number learning with imaginative construction. Our award judges particularly appreciated the versatility, with opportunities for both guided activities and independent play.

Parent award judge Chelsea tested the set with her 5-year-old, numbers-mad son, Toby, and was delighted by how naturally he took to the activities.

This is the best toy in my house! These make me happier than playing with cars or painting. I don't want to go to bed, I want to keep playing. When I wake up tomorrow can I play with my MAGNA-TILES? I want to make a really big equation!

Toby, aged 5, child award judge

Silver: Orchard Toys Five Little Ducks

Orchard Toys Five Little Ducks

Five little ducks went swimming one day, and now the much-loved nursery rhyme has been turned into a colourful counting game for preschoolers.

Designed for children aged three and over, Orchard Toys Five Little Ducks encourages little ones to practise counting, colour recognition and matching as they help the ducklings return to their mummy. The familiar song makes it easy to introduce, while the simple rules mean children can quickly understand how to play.

Our award judges particularly liked how the game combined early maths with family time. Children enjoyed singing along, matching the colourful ducks and celebrating when they completed the activities.

Parent award judge Chloe tested the game with her four-year-old son, Lucas, who loved the counting challenges and was keen to play again.

My son really enjoyed this counting game! He loves maths and this game is a fun way to encourage early counting skills while also developing colour recognition and matching. A lovely educational game that combines learning with play.

Parent award judge Chloe

Bronze: SmartMax My First Animals Around The World

SmartMax My First Animals Around The World

What happens when you give a dolphin a different animal's body? That's part of the fun of SmartMax My First Animals Around The World, a colourful magnetic construction set designed for little animal lovers.

Children can connect chunky magnetic pieces to create familiar creatures or mix and match them to invent their own funny combinations. The pieces are easy for small hands to pull apart and reconnect, encouraging experimentation while developing fine motor skills.

The compact carry case also makes it a handy option for keeping children entertained on trips and restaurant visits.

Our award judges found that younger children particularly enjoyed naming the animals, identifying colours and creating unusual combinations. Some testers played for short bursts before returning to the set later, making it well suited to quick activities throughout the day.

Parent award judge Alice tested the set with her one-year-old and three-year-old children, who both enjoyed experimenting with the magnets.

Both of my children (3 years and 1 year) enjoyed playing with the toy, taking the animals apart and putting them together again. They also enjoyed putting the magnets together in a long line and found it funny mixing and matching different animals together and turning them different ways around.

Editor's Choice: Taf Toys My Home Busy Book

Taf Toys My Home Busy Book

For toddlers who love copying the grown-ups, Taf Toys My Home Busy Book turns familiar daily routines into a colourful, hands-on adventure.

Designed for children aged 18 months and over, this soft activity book follows a friendly bear through everyday moments, including waking up, breakfast, playtime and bath time. Each page offers something new to explore, with flaps, gears, textures and tactile activities that encourage children to get involved.

Rather than simply listening to a story, little ones can practise using their hands, investigate how things work and begin recognising the routines they experience at home.

Our award judges appreciated the combination of storytelling and practical activities, particularly for toddlers who enjoy exploring books independently.

Parent award judge Bethany tested the book with her 20-month-old daughter, Annie, who was excited to discover the different activities.

Annie, 20 months, was very excited when she recieved this busy book. She immediately went to out the teddy to bed, stroking him after tucking him in. She warmed up to him having some dinner and liked the popper page too. Annie happily took the book to bed and carried on playing with it whilst we read her a bed time story.

Best family game

A brilliant family game brings everyone together, whether you're playing with younger children or trying to entertain a mixed-age group. This year's winners deliver plenty of laughter, friendly competition and opportunities to get involved, from hilariously bad drawings to word challenges and screen-free audio adventures.

Gold: Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing

Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing

You don't need to be good at drawing to win this game. In fact, being absolutely terrible at it is half the fun.

Exploding Kittens I Suck At Drawing challenges players to sketch pictures and guess what everyone else has attempted to create. The results can be wonderfully ridiculous, making it a great choice for families who love games where laughing together matters more than winning.

Our award judges found that children particularly enjoyed watching their parents attempt the challenges. The silly drawings sparked plenty of laughter, while the competitive element kept everyone wanting another round.

Parent award judge Vicki tested the game with her 10-year-old son, Zach, and his eight-year-old brother, Lincoln. Both enjoyed the unpredictable challenges and were keen to play again.

Both me and my husband had fun playing with the kids as a family, I can definitely see this game coming out when we have family and friends over as well. The children found the whole thing really fun as well as frustrating, lots of laughs all around.

Parent award judge Vicki

Silver: Clementoni Disc-O Draw

Clementoni Disc-O Draw

Think you're good at drawing? Try doing it while the surface beneath your pen is spinning.

Clementoni Disc-O Draw puts a hilarious twist on traditional drawing games, challenging players to sketch pictures on a rotating disc while everyone else tries to guess what they're creating.

With different difficulty settings, drawing cards and scoring challenges, it's designed to get the whole family involved. The spinning surface makes even simple pictures surprisingly tricky, which is exactly where the fun begins.

Our award judges particularly enjoyed watching adults struggle with their drawings, while younger players loved the chance to be in charge of the game.

Parent award judge Hollie tested Disc-O Draw with her nine-year-old son, Rowan, who enjoyed playing alongside his grandparents.

I would definitely play with it again. It's a really fun game and it's funny when you see people's silly drawings. When it spins it's really hard to draw - but that's a good thing as that makes the game. I like playing it with my grandads because they are funny at drawing.

Rowan, aged 9, child award judge

Joint Bronze: Starts With Ends With

Starts With Ends With

If your family loves a word game, Starts With Ends With is a clever way to put everyone's vocabulary and quick thinking to the test.

The challenge is simple: come up with a word that starts with one letter and ends with another. But when you're under pressure to think of an answer, even the easiest combinations can suddenly feel impossible.

It's a great option for children who enjoy spelling, wordplay and a little friendly competition. The straightforward format also means families can adapt the rules, introducing categories or inventing their own challenges.

Our award judges appreciated how quickly children understood the game and how little setup or tidying away it required. Some families found that younger siblings could join in, too, even though the suggested age range starts at eight.

Arthur aged 8 chose to play with it again. In fact since we got it, it has been a nightly routine - a quick family game before bed. He also played it with his brother many times. He really enjoyed the competitive element and enjoyed having to use his brain to win rather than your standard roll the dice and hope for some good luck type of game!

Parent award judge Abi

Joint Bronze: Ravensburger Minecraft Pig In the Field

Ravensburger Minecraft Pig In the Field

Minecraft fans can bring a little of their favourite digital world to the table with this character-filled family game.

Featuring the familiar blocky style of Minecraft and its instantly recognisable pig, Pig In the Field offers a screen-free way to enjoy the world children already know and love.

It's particularly appealing for families with young Minecraft fans who enjoy collecting themed toys and playing games inspired by their favourite characters.

Our award judges recognised the appeal of a familiar theme, helping the game earn Bronze in a competitive category.

I loved working out which gate to turn to catch the pig in my corner! I love Minecraft so this is my new favourite game! I can't wait to show my friends how to play it. I wanted to keep playing to get the most pig cards.

Callie, aged 6, child award judge

Editor's Choice: tonies Tonieplay – Hasbro Collection

tonies Tonieplay – Hasbro Collection

Family game night gets an audio-powered makeover with the Tonieplay Hasbro Collection, which reimagines three classic games for the Toniebox 2.

Monopoly Real Estate Rush, The Game of Life and Guess Who? Monster Mysteries have all been adapted into interactive audio adventures. Children listen to instructions, make decisions, complete challenges and respond using the Tonieplay Controller, with no screen required.

Each game offers something different. Monopoly introduces property challenges and mini-games, The Game of Life lets children explore different careers and experiences, while Guess Who? becomes an audio detective adventure.

Our award judges loved the variety and the fact that children could enjoy some games independently as well as with family members. The compact format also makes them easier to take on holiday than traditional board games.

Parent award judge Rebecca tested the collection with her seven-year-old son, Jack, who particularly enjoyed Monopoly and The Game of Life.

I loved Monopoly the best because it's very creative and I liked all the mini games and the different ways you can earn money and properties. Game Of Life was also lots of fun because I could play it with my whole family.

Jack, aged 7, child award judge

It's worth noting that the games require a Toniebox 2, which is sold separately.

Best card game

Easy to pack, quick to bring out and often surprisingly competitive, card games are brilliant for holidays, weekends and family gatherings. This year's winners offer a mix of mischievous humour, strategy, quick reactions and wordplay, with plenty to keep children and grown-ups entertained.

Gold: Exploding Kittens 9 Lives

Exploding Kittens 9 Lives

If your family enjoys a little friendly competition, Exploding Kittens 9 Lives brings a new challenge to game night, with plenty of opportunities to outsmart your opponents.

The aim is to stay in the game while trying to make everyone else go bust, using a combination of strategy, number skills and a little luck. It's the sort of game where fortunes can change quickly, making every round feel different.

Our award judges particularly appreciated how it encouraged children to use maths skills without feeling like a lesson. The compact box also makes it an easy game to pack for holidays or bring out when the whole family gets together.

Parent award judge Fiona tested the game with her nine-year-old daughter, Clara, who loved the competitive element and the chance to play with different generations of her family.

I really enjoyed this game, it’s fun trying to make your opponent lose and go bust. It’s simple and easy to understand straight from the box. Can be easily taken on holiday as is just one small box and my family of all ages enjoyed playing with me. I like how it gets me to sneakily use my maths skills.

Clara, aged 9, child award judge

Silver: Exploding Kittens Rage Mode

Exploding Kittens Rage Mode

Think the original Exploding Kittens is chaotic? Rage Mode turns things up another notch, introducing new ways to sabotage opponents and make every turn even more unpredictable.

Alongside the familiar card-game format, this version includes new action cards and a collectable Rage Cat figurine. Whoever has the cat can use its special ability to steal a card from another player, adding an extra layer of strategy and plenty of opportunities for mischief.

Our award judges found that children loved the unexpected twists and the chance to turn the tables on their opponents. Families who already knew the original game picked up the new rules quickly, although some felt the figurine added less to the experience than the cards themselves.

Parent award judge Alex tested Rage Mode with their nine-year-old son, Harry, who particularly enjoyed experimenting with the new actions.

I liked the rage cat as you can pass it on and steal a card and keep the rest of your cards in your hand for later when the exploding kittens are coming out. I liked the shared suffering card because you can make others get rid of their cards. I think this new version is better as you can do more to change the cards.

Harry, aged 9, child award judge

Joint Bronze: Confident Games Groopums: Suspects

Confident Games Groopums_ Suspects

Calling all mini detectives! Groopums: Suspects is a fast-paced observation game that challenges players to spot patterns, sort characters and think on their feet.

With 120 colourful suspect cards, a spinner and 12 different challenges, each round asks players to group or order characters according to different characteristics. Everyone plays at the same time, so there's no waiting around for your turn.

The game combines visual matching, quick reactions and problem-solving, with opportunities to practise everything from alphabetical order to spotting similarities and differences.

Our award judges particularly liked how the changing challenges kept children engaged. The printed instructions took a little getting used to for some families, but the accompanying video helped make the rules clearer.

Parent award judge Amy tested Groopums with her eight-year-old son, Charlie, who was delighted by the spinner and the element of surprise.

I love the spinner! The picture on the cards are really bright and colourful, and I like the fact that each round is a surprise. I liked playing the game with my mum and sister, it was fun.

Charlie, aged 8, child award judge

Joint Bronze: Scrungo Games Alphabet War

Scrungo Games Alphabet War

For families who love word games, Alphabet War turns spelling into a fast-moving battle of letters, where quick thinking can make all the difference.

Players take turns changing the word in the middle of the table by adding, removing or rearranging letters. Special action cards introduce extra challenges and opportunities to disrupt opponents, keeping everyone on their toes.

It's an entertaining way to encourage vocabulary, spelling and problem-solving, particularly for children who enjoy word puzzles but want something more competitive than a traditional spelling game.

The compact card format makes it easy to pack for holidays or bring out for a quick game after school.

The cards are good quality and a fun design. The instructions are well written and clear.

Parent award judge Alex

Best logic game or puzzle

For children who love a challenge, a good logic puzzle can be wonderfully absorbing. This year's winners encourage concentration, patience and the satisfaction of working something out independently, whether that's solving a tricky brainteaser or completing a spectacular Star Wars jigsaw.

Gold: Smart Games IQ Flow

Smart Games IQ Flow

Small enough to slip into a bag but packed with challenges, Smart Games IQ Flow is a clever little puzzle game that could become a holiday essential.

Designed for children aged seven and over, it features 120 challenges that gradually increase in difficulty. Players must slide colourful pieces into the correct positions to solve each puzzle, rather than simply placing them onto the board.

Our award judges loved how the puzzles encouraged children to persevere and think logically. The compact case and secure lid also make it a practical choice for journeys, restaurant visits and screen-free downtime.

Parent award judge Lois tested IQ Flow with her 11-year-old daughter, Mollie, who enjoyed progressing from the easier levels to the trickier challenges.

I really like this puzzle game, I enjoyed easily solving the first few levels and now I am challenging myself with the more advanced stages. I play games like this on my phone, but it is nice to have a real life toy version to play with and I like the colours too.

Mollie, aged 11, child award judge

Silver: Clementoni Metamorphic Art Collection: Star Wars

Clementoni Metamorphic Art Collection_ Star Wars

For Star Wars fans who enjoy a proper puzzle challenge, this 520-piece jigsaw offers something a little different.

Once children have completed the picture, they can assemble the themed frame and switch on the included LED light strip. Four lighting modes reveal different images within the artwork, transforming the finished puzzle into a display piece.

It's a clever combination of traditional puzzling and visual effects, with the added satisfaction of creating something children can hang on their bedroom wall.

Our award judges found the completed picture impressive, although the number of pieces made it a substantial challenge for younger children. Parent award judge Karen tested it with her nine-year-old daughter, Mia, who found the experience enjoyable.

I like how it lights up and how the lights change the picture. I'd like to get another one.

Mia, aged 9, child award judge

Best children's book

A brilliant children's book can spark laughter, start conversations or help a reluctant reader discover the joy of stories. This year's winners offer humour, heart and plenty to think about, from a mischievous potato to a moose learning an important lesson about being himself.

Gold: Kid Potato: Welcome to my World

Kid Potato_ Welcome to my World

A potato with a talent for getting into ridiculous situations? We're listening.

Written and illustrated by Neil Coslett, Kid Potato: Welcome to my World features five short, hilarious adventures packed with alien invasions, robot toilets, disappearing pets and plenty of gloriously silly humour.

The 240-page book combines text with black-and-white illustrations, creating a format that sits somewhere between a chapter book and a graphic novel. Children can dip into different adventures, explore the detailed pictures and tackle bonus activities, including a snot maze.

It's particularly appealing for newly confident or reluctant readers aged around seven to nine, who might find traditional chapter books a little daunting.

Our award judges were impressed by how enthusiastically children responded. Parent award judge Michelle tested the book with her seven-year-old son, Freddie, who was soon reading it whenever he had a spare moment.

It held his attention really well, he was reading it on the way to school in the car and while walking along. I noticed that he read it a lot more than usual books and he laughed out loud a lot.

Parent award judge Michelle

Silver: The Most Magnificent Moose

The Most Magnificent Moose

From bestselling picture-book creators Rachel Bright and Jim Field, The Most Magnificent Moose is a funny, uplifting story with a lovely message about celebrating what makes us different.

The story follows Morris, a happy-go-lucky moose who begins questioning himself after overhearing two beavers. As the other moose start comparing themselves, Morris helps everyone discover that they don't need to compete to be magnificent.

With expressive illustrations, rhyming text and plenty of humorous details, the 32-page hardback offers opportunities to talk about confidence, individuality and self-acceptance.

Our award judges particularly appreciated the message and the colourful illustrations. Some parents felt the story was a little long for younger children, but others found it sparked thoughtful conversations.

Parent award judge Katie read the book with her three-year-old son, Theodore, who was keen to discuss why the moose were comparing themselves.

We’re all magnificent, it’s good we are different!

Theodore, aged 3, child award judge

Bronze: Me and My Feelings by Dr Punam Krishan

Me and My Feelings by Dr Punam Krishan

Helping little ones understand big emotions isn't always easy, and Me and My Feelings offers a colourful, interactive way to start those conversations.

Written by GP and broadcaster Dr Punam Krishan, with illustrations by Verónika Cháves Morales, this lift-the-flap book explores emotions including happiness, sadness, fear and anger.

With more than 90 flaps to discover, children can explore how feelings affect their bodies, learn to recognise different emotions and begin talking about ways to manage them.

Our award judges appreciated the engaging illustrations, sturdy pages and opportunities for discussion. Some parents felt the amount of information could be overwhelming for younger preschoolers, making it a book to explore together rather than read all at once.

Parent award judge Sabrina tested the book with her son, Aryeh, who turned four during testing. He particularly enjoyed discovering what was hidden beneath the flaps.

I like opening the flaps and seeing inside.

Aryeh, aged 4, child award judge

Best audio and storytelling toy

Looking for a way to keep little ones entertained without another screen? Audio toys can make a lovely addition to family life, whether children are listening to stories, dancing to music or winding down at bedtime. Our winners offer two different ways to make storytelling part of the everyday routine.

Gold: Yoto Mini 4th Gen

Yoto Mini 4th Gen

Small enough for little hands to carry, the Yoto Mini 4th Gen packs a whole world of stories, music and podcasts into a portable audio player designed for independent listening.

Children can choose what to hear using physical Yoto Cards, while a new green button lets them access up to 20 favourite audio titles without needing a card. Parents set up the playlists through the Yoto app, with separate options for daytime and bedtime listening.

There's plenty to appeal to parents, too. The player offers up to 16 hours of battery life, splash and dust resistance, and enough storage for more than 1,000 hours of downloaded audio, making it a particularly handy companion for long car journeys and holidays.

Our award judges loved how easily children took control of their listening. Parent award judge Sadaf found that the player encouraged her daughter to choose stories and podcasts instead of asking for the television.

First and foremost, the amazing thing is that Yoto mini is entertaining and engaging that it makes my daughter screen-free instantly, I don't need to put in any extra effort to ask her not to watch TV or tablets.

Parent award judge Sadaf

Silver: Clementoni Disney Storytime Projector Plus

Clementoni Disney Storytime Projector Plus

Bedtime gets a little extra Disney magic with this portable projector, which combines narrated stories, music and colourful pictures displayed on the wall.

The Clementoni Disney Storytime Projector Plus comes with seven classic Disney stories, including The Lion King, Bambi and 101 Dalmatians, plus a lullaby card. There's also an adjustable focus, built-in night light and storage space for the story cards.

Our award judges found that children particularly enjoyed choosing their own stories and watching the images appear in a darkened bedroom. Four-year-old Sebastian tested the projector with his mum, parent award judge Kathleen, and quickly worked out how to use it.

I like that the pictures show on my wall and I can control it by pressing the button, it's like my own TV in my bed.

Sebastian, aged 4, child award judge

Best ride-on

Few things make a toddler feel more grown-up than having their own set of wheels. This year's ride-on winners encourage movement, coordination and independence, with everything from colourful monsters to a suitcase that makes travelling more fun.

Gold: Xootz Snootz Ride-On

Xootz Snootz Ride-On

Part ride-on, part cheeky monster companion, Xootz Snootz brings a colourful twist to zooming around the house.

Available in four different character designs, these foot-to-floor ride-ons feature wheels that allow children to spin and change direction, along with funny character sounds and a removable seat that reveals a handy storage compartment.

Our award judges found that the different features appealed to children of different ages. Younger toddlers enjoyed pushing themselves along and pressing the sound button, while older children quickly discovered how to spin and skid.

Parent award judge Jesica tested the Snootz with three-year-old daughter Ottilie and her 18-month-old sister, Elodie. The girls also incorporated their monsters into imaginative games, feeding them pretend food and treating them like pets.

Both girls have played with their Xootz Snootz non stop since receiving them and there’s no sign of their excitement slowing down!

Parent award judge Jessica

Silver: Winnie the Pooh Deluxe Bobble Ride On

Winnie the Pooh Deluxe Bobble Ride On

For little Disney fans finding their feet, the Winnie the Pooh Deluxe Bobble Ride On is a sweet introduction to independent movement.

Featuring cheerful Winnie the Pooh graphics, this lightweight ride-on is designed for children aged 12 months and over. Its comfortable seat, soft-feel handles and puncture-free tyres help make those first journeys around the living room feel like a big adventure.

Parent award judge Jemma tested it with her 18-month-old daughter, Olivia, who had only recently started walking. Olivia was initially cautious, but soon gained the confidence to ride independently.

My daughter loves her new found independence and the fact she is now able to get herself onto the bike and ride independently up and down my hall. It kept her entertained for a good while and held her interest. She used it on carpet in our playroom initially, then when she got her confidence, moved to the hall where the laminate floor let her go faster!

Parent award judge Jemma

Bronze: Kinderkraft CABBY

Kinderkraft CABBY

Anyone who's navigated an airport with a tired child and a mountain of luggage will appreciate the idea behind the Kinderkraft CABBY.

This clever two-in-one children's suitcase doubles as a ride-on seat, allowing little travellers to take a break while their belongings come along for the journey.

The 20-litre suitcase features an adjustable handle, a sturdy frame and a seat designed for children aged two and over. It's a practical option for family holidays, but our award judges discovered it was just as entertaining at home.

Parent award judge Katie tested the CABBY with her four-year-old son, Sebastian, who loved pretending the suitcase was a car and using the storage compartment as an engine for his toys.

Katie was impressed by how the practical travel design inspired imaginative play. At £89, it's a bigger investment than a conventional ride-on, but the combination of luggage and seating could make it particularly useful for families who travel regularly.

He loved pretending to drive it, being pulled along on it and playing with the light up wheels. He played with it all weekend and kept going back to it, so I have no doubt he would happily play with it again. It was wonderful to see a practical travel product spark so much excitement and imaginative play.

Parent award judge Katie

Editor's Choice: Xootz Cobolt Electric Ride-On Motorbike

Xootz Cobolt Electric Ride-On Motorbike

For older children who dream of having their own motorbike, the Xootz Cobolt offers an exciting introduction to electric riding.

With chunky inflatable tyres, a padded seat and a mechanical handbrake, this battery-powered ride-on is designed for outdoor adventures on suitable private ground under adult supervision.

Our award judges praised its sturdy construction and realistic styling. Seven-year-old Chester tested the motorbike with his mum, parent award judge Kellie, and was delighted to take it for a spin.

Chester enjoyed riding over tarmac, grass and bumpier surfaces, although the motorbike performed fastest on smoother ground. During testing, the battery lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes of continuous use before needing to be recharged.

At £299, it's a significant purchase, but one that could offer plenty of outdoor excitement for confident young riders.

I was so excited to have a go on the motorbike, I like how fast it went when I was riding on it. I like the look of it, it is very cool and I like the colour. I like that the size is good for me and the size of the wheels.

Chester, aged 7, child award judge

Best trike

A good trike can make family outings much more enjoyable, particularly when little ones want to explore but aren't quite ready to pedal independently. This year's winners combine the comfort and reassurance of a parent-controlled ride with features that encourage growing confidence, making them practical options for everyday adventures.

Gold: Kinderkraft AVEO 2 PLUS

Kinderkraft AVEO 2 PLUS

From those first family outings to the excitement of learning to pedal, the Kinderkraft AVEO 2 PLUS is designed to grow alongside your child.

Suitable from nine months to five years, this versatile trike offers six configurations, gradually transforming from a parent-controlled ride into a tricycle children can pedal themselves.

Its standout feature is the CLICK & TWIST rotating seat, which lets parents switch between forward-facing and parent-facing positions at the touch of a button. There's also a reclining backrest, breathable seat fabric and adjustable UPF50+ canopy, making it a comfortable option for longer outings.

Our award judges particularly appreciated the flexibility. Parent award judge Anam tested the trike with her 14-month-old daughter, Urwa, who was delighted by the bell and couldn't wait to go for a ride.

I was amazed discovering the features it has and see myself using it for the next few years with my kid, I would say it’s definitely worth the value. Especially features like a foldable, reclining seat and rotatable seat is amazing and makes life so much easier when on the go.

Parent award judge Anam

Silver: Kinderkraft SPINSTEP 2 PLUS

Kinderkraft SPINSTEP 2 PLUS

If you're looking for a trike that can take your child from babyhood into their more adventurous toddler years, the Kinderkraft SPINSTEP 2 PLUS offers plenty of useful features.

Designed for children from nine months and supporting a maximum weight of 25kg, this three-in-one trike begins as a stroller-style ride before adapting as children become more confident on the pedals.

Like the AVEO, it features a rotating seat that can face towards or away from the parent, plus a reclining backrest for little ones who need a rest during outings. There's also an adjustable parent handle, protective UPF50+ canopy and a generous selection of accessories, including storage bags, baskets and a cup holder.

Our award judges loved how the trike made everyday outings feel more exciting. Parent award judge Brooke tested it with her daughter, Aurora, who was approaching her second birthday and immediately took a shine to her new wheels.

My child loved riding on her new trike giggling and laughing away. She rang the bell a lot as we pushed her. She was able to reach the handle bars if she wanted to steer but because of her age we decided to turn independent steering off so she wasn’t crashing into things but she will grow into this along with being able to reach the pedals.

From those first wobbly pushes to confidently gliding along the pavement, a balance bike can be a brilliant stepping stone towards learning to cycle. Our winners impressed with their child-friendly designs, lightweight frames and features that help little riders build confidence at their own pace.

Gold: Micro Balance Bike Ultra

Micro Balance Bike Ultra

For little ones desperate to keep up with their older siblings, the Micro Balance Bike Ultra is designed to make those first two-wheeled adventures feel exciting rather than intimidating.

Suitable for children aged two to five, it features a lightweight magnesium frame, chunky 12-inch puncture-free wheels and an adjustable saddle. The low step-through design makes it easier for smaller children to climb on and off independently, while the steering helps them practise balance and control before progressing to pedals.

There's a particularly eye-catching extra on the Neochrome version: LED wheels that light up as children ride, without needing batteries.

Our award judges were impressed by how quickly children gained confidence. Parent award judge Stevie tested the bike with her two-year-old daughter, Hattie, who went from riding cautiously to speeding along with ,um jogging behind her in just one week.

Stevie praised the lightweight frame, which made it easy for Hattie to pick up the bike and lift it over kerbs. She also appreciated the straightforward assembly and simple saddle adjustment. And Hattie couldn't have been more enthusiastic about her new wheels.

Mommy I ride my rainbow bike please, no car/pram today. I love my bike. This is amaaaaaaazzzzzing.

Hattie, aged 2, child award judge

Silver: Squish 12" Red Balance Bike

Squish 12_ Red Balance Bike

Bright, sporty and designed with little cyclists in mind, the Squish 12" Red Balance Bike offers a more traditional bicycle feel for children learning to balance on two wheels.

Suitable from around two years old, it weighs 3.86kg and features a lightweight aluminium frame, low stand-over height and child-sized handlebars and grips. The design helps children put their feet down comfortably as they learn to push, steer and glide.

Unlike many simpler balance bikes, the Squish also includes a rear brake, giving growing riders the opportunity to practise an important cycling skill before moving on to a pedal bike.

Other thoughtful details include a supportive saddle with a carry handle, useful when little legs get tired halfway through a family walk, and a sticker set so children can personalise their new wheels.

Lottie, age 2, loved the bike and seeing a huge grin on her face when she mastered it was wonderful. She was so excited to try the bike when it arrived she didn’t want to wait for the rain to stop! Every time she sees the bike she wants to go for a ride and keeps going even if she has a wobble. Lottie kept saying “one more last go” when I said it’s time to go in so she definitely enjoys the bike!

Best scooter

From first adventures to speedy school runs, a good scooter can quickly become an everyday favourite. This year's winners impressed our award judges with their playful features, child-friendly designs and practical touches, whether that's light-up wheels, a bubble-blowing unicorn or a scooter that grows with your child.

Gold: Maxi Micro Foldable LED Scooter

Maxi Micro Foldable LED Scooter

For children who love zooming around the park, the Maxi Micro Foldable LED Scooter combines a smooth ride with some seriously eye-catching wheels.

Designed for children aged five to 12, it features Micro's signature lean-to-steer system, an adjustable handlebar and motion-powered LED wheels that light up as children scoot. There's no need to worry about batteries, as the wheels generate their own light through movement.

Parents will appreciate the one-click folding mechanism, which makes the scooter easier to carry, store or squeeze into the car boot. Its anti-slip deck, responsive brake and replaceable parts also make it a practical choice for regular use.

Our award judges were impressed by the sturdy yet lightweight design. Parent award judge Madeleine tested the scooter with six-year-old Aurelian, who quickly abandoned his old scooter in favour of his new wheels.

Aurelian has played with the scooter multiple times a day every day since it arrived. He has enjoyed taking it out on longer rides to the park and round the neighbourhood, but he also likes to just whizz around in the garden. The light-up wheels definitely add longevity to his play as he has been able to stay out in the garden after dark to put on 'light shows' for the rest of the family.

Parent award judge Madeline

Silver: Xootz Bubble Go Unicorn Scooter

Xootz Bubble Go Unicorn Scooter

A scooter that blows bubbles as you ride? For unicorn-loving preschoolers, this might just be the dream combination.

The Xootz Bubble Go Unicorn Scooter features a colourful unicorn head with a built-in bubble machine, sending a trail of bubbles floating behind little riders as they scoot.

Designed for children aged three and over, it has three wheels for stability, an adjustable handlebar, anti-slip footplate and rear footbrake. The frame also folds for storage, making it easier to take on family outings.

Our award judges found that the bubble feature was an enormous hit. Parent award judge Mandy tested the scooter with her three-year-old daughter, Lylah, who loved using it both for riding and for making bubbles to chase around the park.

I like the scooter because it so beautiful and it got bubbles in it and I want to keep it. I like to turn and ride on it and I like to make circles and colourful bubbles.

Lylah, aged 3, child award judge

Editor's Choice: Micro Mini 2 Grow Classic Scooter

Micro Mini 2 Grow Classic Scooter

If you're looking for a scooter that can keep up with your child's development, the Micro Mini 2 Grow Classic is designed to take little ones through several stages of riding.

This clever four-in-one design starts as a parent-guided ride-on, complete with a seat and steering handle. As children become more confident, it can be adapted into different riding configurations before eventually becoming a traditional Mini Micro scooter.

The adjustable handlebar means it can continue to grow with your child, making it an appealing option for families who would rather invest in one adaptable product than buy several different ride-ons.

Our award judges particularly appreciated the versatility. Parent award judge Ellen tested the scooter with her 25-month-old daughter, Charlotte, who loved being pushed around the house and outside before experimenting with the different riding positions.

Charlotte aged 25 months really liked the scooter. She enjoyed sitting and rocking back and forth independently but also being taken for a ride around the house and outside. She was very proud telling everyone 'this my scooter'.

Best outdoor play equipment

If you've got garden space to spare, the right outdoor play equipment can turn an ordinary afternoon into a proper adventure. This year's winners encourage children to climb, bounce, slide and challenge themselves, with options ranging from a full garden playground to a water slide that's perfect for warmer days.

Gold: TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame

TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame

Forget a trip to the playground, the TP Toys Skywood Wooden Climbing Frame brings an impressive range of activities into your own back garden.

With a climbing tower, wavy slide, monkey bars and zipline-style swing, there's plenty to keep energetic children entertained. The modular design also gives families flexibility over how they arrange the equipment, while the FSC-certified timber makes it a substantial long-term garden investment.

Our award judges particularly loved the opportunities for children to develop their confidence and physical skills. From mastering the monkey bars to swinging independently, the climbing frame gave little testers plenty of challenges to work towards.

It's a significant investment at more than £1,300, and you'll need a suitable garden with enough clear space around the equipment. But for families with active children, it offers a wide variety of activities without leaving home.

Parent award judge Katey tested the equipment with her five-year-old son, Walter, who became increasingly confident during testing.

Silver: Jumpflex HERO 10ft Trampoline

Jumpflex HERO 10ft Trampoline

For children who never seem to run out of energy, the Jumpflex HERO 10ft Trampoline offers plenty of space for bouncing, jumping and practising their latest moves.

Designed with family use in mind, it features a sturdy steel frame, 64 springs and a protective enclosure with a self-closing entrance. Curved support poles sit away from the main jumping area, while padded sections help reduce the risk of bumps during play.

It also has a generous maximum individual user weight of 160kg, although families should always follow the manufacturer's guidance on safe use and supervision.

Our award judges were impressed by the overall quality, particularly the durable-looking materials and thoughtful enclosure design. Parent award judge Anita tested the trampoline with her two children, who were straight into action as soon as it was assembled.

There was a lot of excitement whilst we were building this and as soon as it was ready, it was put to good use. I loved how quickly they were laughing and giggling as they played and it clearly brought a lot of playful joy! The basketball net was a welcome addition and they were excited that it had another use. It has been used every day since we built it, and it’s a great after school activity that lets them burn off energy and get some fresh air.

Parent award judge Anita

Bronze: Liberty House Toys Kids Wavy Slide with Water Feature

Liberty House Toys Kids Wavy Slide with Water Feature

A garden slide is always a winner with little ones, but add a splash of water and suddenly you've got a whole new summer activity.

The Liberty House Toys Kids Wavy Slide with Water Feature combines a traditional wavy slide with a hose attachment that lets parents adjust the water flow, from a gentle trickle to a more exciting splash.

Designed for children aged three to 10, it features textured, non-slip steps, raised handrails and ground pegs to help keep the frame secure. The water feature can be switched off, too, so children can enjoy ordinary sliding when the weather isn't quite warm enough for getting wet.

Our award judges loved the versatility, particularly how much confidence younger children gained from climbing the steps and sliding independently.

Parent award judge Tiffany tested the slide with her three-year-old daughter, Matilda, who was delighted by her new garden equipment.

My daughter was so excited when she first saw the slide, she couldn’t wait to play with it! She enjoyed helping me put it together and then was so excited to climb the stairs on her own and slide down the slide!

Parent award judge Tiffany

Best toy for active play

Getting children moving doesn't always require a huge garden or expensive equipment. This year's winners turn everyday play into opportunities for running, throwing, balancing and building confidence, whether your child loves superhero games, foam-dart battles or splashing about in the pool.

Joint Gold: XSHOT Insanity Dart Storm

XSHOT Insanity Dart Storm

For older children who love action-packed games, the XSHOT Insanity Dart Storm certainly lives up to its name.

This motorised foam-dart blaster features two rotating barrels, an impressive capacity of more than 80 darts and a 360-degree rotating tripod. It comes with 200 foam darts, giving children plenty of ammunition for target practice and imaginative team challenges.

The blaster can also be removed from its tripod for mobile play, although some of our testers found the release mechanism tricky.

Parent award judge Jess tested the Dart Storm with her 11-year-old son, Lucas, who loved its size and firing power.

It's really big and I like the two barrels that spin. I like how powerful it is when it shoots.

Lucas, aged 11, child award judge

Joint Gold: Spidey & His Amazing Friends 4-in-1 Garden Games

Spidey & His Amazing Friends 4-in-1 Garden Games

Calling all little superheroes! This colourful garden games collection brings Spidey and his friends into four different activities designed to get children moving.

The set includes pop-and-catch, sticky catch, target shot and bat-and-ball games, giving children plenty of opportunities to practise throwing, catching, aiming and coordination.

Our award judges loved the variety, particularly for families with siblings of different ages. Parent award judge Megan tested the collection with her five-year-old son, Alfie, and three-year-old Teddy.

Alfie was immediately drawn to the Spidey theme and enjoyed mastering the trickier activities.

They really enjoyed having the different games to choose from and were excited to try each one. Some of the back-and-forth ball games were quite tricky for them at their age, particularly catching the ball, but that didn’t put them off at all. If anything, they were even more excited when they did manage to catch it, and just as pleased when the other one did! They were really encouraging each other and definitely wanted to keep playing.

Parent award judge Megan

Silver: Swingball Pickleball All Surface

Swingball Pickleball All Surface

If your family enjoys a little friendly competition, Swingball Pickleball All Surface gives a familiar garden favourite a sporty makeover.

Instead of traditional Swingball bats, players use lightweight pickleball-style paddles to hit a tethered ball around a central pole. The aim is to send the ball spiralling towards your end of the pole before your opponent can do the same.

The All Surface base means families can set it up on different surfaces, indoors or outdoors, without needing to push a spike into the ground.

It's designed for children aged six and over, making it a fun introduction to racket sports while encouraging hand-eye coordination, timing and quick reactions.

The compact setup also makes it a practical option for gardens where there isn't enough space for a full net game.

It is really fun, I like hitting it very hard and like that you have to put water in the Base. I also like winning and watching the ball spin around.

Henry, aged 6, child award judge

Bronze: Water Babies Bubba the Whale Floatboard

Water Babies Bubba the Whale Floatboard

For babies and toddlers discovering the joys of swimming, this cheerful whale-shaped floatboard brings an extra element of fun to water play.

Designed specifically for little hands, the Water Babies Bubba the Whale Floatboard is made from thick, buoyant foam. Children can hold it while practising kicking, reach towards it during swimming activities or simply enjoy splashing and exploring its shape.

Our award judges were particularly impressed by how versatile such a simple product could be.

Parent award judge Kathryn tested the floatboard with her daughter, Harper, who was almost two. Harper enjoyed using it both in the bath and at the swimming pool, finding lots of different ways to play.

Kathryn also praised the board's sturdy construction and child-friendly size, noting that Harper could carry it independently from the changing room to the pool.

The board kept Harper's attention for a really long time, both when using it in the bath and at the swimming pool. She found lots of different ways to play with it, including putting it under her chest and kicking her legs, sitting on it, putting it on her head, pushing it under the water, using it to splash, and putting it under running water at the pool.

Editor's Choice: MODU Dreamer Set

MODU Dreamer Set

What if one toy could become a ride-on car, a seesaw, a balance course and a climbing adventure? That's the idea behind the MODU Dreamer Set.

This clever modular construction system combines chunky foam blocks, wheels and connectors, allowing children to create more than 25 suggested designs, as well as inventing their own.

It's particularly appealing for families looking for active indoor play, as children can build, climb, balance and explore without needing a large garden.

Our award judges loved the opportunities for siblings to play together. Parent award judge Megan tested the set with her three-year-old son, Teddy, and five-year-old Alfie.

Alfie was especially enthusiastic about the building process, while Teddy preferred playing with the finished creations.

The play potential is probably the best thing about this toy. It’s almost like jumbo Lego! The boys could follow the absolutely beautiful instruction book, which is full of different things to build, but they could just as easily make up something completely different themselves.

Parent award judge Megan

Best playset

The best playsets give children a whole world to explore, with characters, accessories and clever features that inspire their own stories. This year's winners range from a Disney clubhouse packed with activities to a tiny working record player and construction vehicles that race across the floor.

Gold: Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Deluxe Playset

Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Deluxe Playset

Oh, boy! Mickey Mouse fans can bring their favourite clubhouse adventures to life with this colourful 16-piece playset.

Designed for children aged three and over, it features poseable Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck figures, along with Pluto, Little Helper and plenty of accessories. Children can send characters down the slide, ride in Mickey's red car, take off in an aeroplane or explore the different levels of the clubhouse.

There's also a working Wacky Tube lift, moving gears, lights, sounds and more than 20 Mickey Mouse phrases. The clubhouse opens up for play and closes for storage, although some testers found fitting all the accessories inside a challenge.

Our award judges loved how the familiar characters encouraged imaginative storytelling. Parent award judge Joanne tested the playset with her four-year-old daughter, Lillie, who returned to it every day and even took Mickey and Minnie upstairs at bedtime.

Lillie absolutely loves this toy. She keeps coming back every morning and every day after school to play with it. She loves that it is Mickey Mouse and she has been so imaginative with her play.

Parent award judge Joanne

Silver: Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl Playset

Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl Playset

A record player that's small enough to fit in your hand but actually plays music? That's the clever idea behind the Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl Playset.

This miniature turntable comes with a tiny record featuring a clip of *APT.* by Rosé and Bruno Mars. Children can place the record on the deck, move the miniature needle into position and press play to hear the music.

There's also a display stand for showing off a growing collection of mini records, with additional Mini Brands Really Works Vinyl capsules available separately.

Our award judges loved the novelty of a genuinely working miniature. Parent award judge Megan tested the playset with her eight-year-old daughter, Lara, who enjoys both music and collecting tiny objects.

I love that it’s tiny but still loud enough that I can hear it. I really like that it comes with different records and it has the box stand to keep it safe.

Lara, aged 8, child award judge

Bronze: Mighty Wheels Mighty Rally

Mighty Wheels Mighty Rally

For children who love both construction vehicles and racing cars, Mighty Wheels Mighty Rally brings the two together in one action-packed set.

It includes six construction-themed vehicles, from an excavator and cement mixer to a dump truck and steamroller, plus an unusual soda-can-shaped launcher. Children load a vehicle into the launcher, give it a firm press and watch it shoot across the floor.

The launcher also works with other compatible toy vehicles, so children can experiment with different cars and create their own races.

Our award judges particularly liked the imaginative possibilities. Parent award judge Susie tested the set with her four-year-old son, Daniel, who was fascinated by the launcher and repeatedly returned to try it again.

As soon as we opened the box, he said, 'I really love this, Mummy!' which was lovely to hear. The soda can launcher was something he hadn’t seen before, making the set even more exciting, and he was eager to try it out straight away.

Parent award judge Susie

Our award judges recognised the appeal of the hands-on making process, with opportunities to experiment with textures and create something children can proudly show off afterwards.

Our award judges loved how children turned these simple fidget toys into characters for imaginative adventures.

I am going to name them all and they will be my little buddies. They are going to come with me on holiday and when we go to Grandma and Grandad's

Bronze: Glo Pals Light-Up Sensory Cubes

Glo Pals Light-Up Sensory Cubes

Bath time gets a magical makeover with these colourful cubes, which light up as soon as they touch water.

Each pack contains four Glo Pals Light-Up Sensory Cubes, complete with cheerful little faces. Children can float them, stack them or experiment with dipping them in and out of the water to see the lights switch on and off.

They're designed for children aged three and over, and can be used in the bath or during supervised water-play activities. Once removed from the water and dried, the lights switch off automatically.

Our award judges particularly appreciated how such a simple idea could encourage repeated exploration.

Parent award judge Lauren tested the cubes with her five-year-old son, Jacob, who is autistic and non-verbal. Lauren found that the glowing colours captured his attention immediately, and the cubes soon became favourites both in the bath and during everyday sensory play.

Jacob has absolutely loved testing these, and they have become not just his favourite bath toy, but one of absolute favourite toys to walk around with!

How to choose the best toy for your child

The best toy isn't necessarily the biggest, most expensive or most high-tech. Think about what your child already loves doing, whether that's building elaborate creations, making up stories, caring for dolls, getting crafty or spending every possible moment outdoors.

It's also worth considering how a toy will fit into family life. Will your child be able to play independently? Does it offer different ways to play? And is it suitable for their age, interests and stage of development?

Whether you're shopping for a baby's first Christmas, a toddler's birthday or a big kid who seems to have everything, we hope the MadeForMums Toy Awards 2026 winners help you find something they'll genuinely love!

How are the MadeForMums Toy Awards winners chosen?

The MadeForMums Toy Awards are informed by hands-on testing from parents and children, who spend time playing with the toys in their own homes.

Our judges consider how children respond to each toy, how engaging it is over time and what makes it enjoyable and practical for families. The results help us highlight toys that offer genuine play appeal, rather than simply looking impressive in their packaging.
