MFM Awards 2024 Winners — Sleeping and nursery products

Thinking of safety and comfort first, we tested mattresses for firmness, checked bedside cribs for breathability and closely investigated details like zips and labels to ensure a safe night's sleep. Why it’s a winner: We found this safe and sturdy bedside crib was easy to put together, with one parent tester managing to assemble it in under 5 minutes. Suitable from birth to 6 months, the Venture Hush Bedside Crib is height-adjustable, meaning you can match it to the height of your bed, and the drop-side allows easy access to your baby. It also won points for the clever rocking system, which you can activate by clicking the leg bars of the crib into position (with the drop-side panel up for safety). These were features that really impressed our judges, along with the sturdy padded mattress and breathable mesh panels, and the handy under-crib shelf for storing baby essentials. It also looks good, too — parent testers praised the stylish and modern design – and is very competitively-priced.

Why it’s a winner: Well made, well-priced and, according to one tester, so easy to use it’s “self-explanatory”, this app-free baby monitor was feted by our parent testers and expert judge for its impressive features, including 360-degree camera view, a 2-way talk system, decent battery capacity, temperature gauge and hack proof status. “My favourite feature is the VOX function, which means the monitor automatically lights up when a baby gets fussy or cries out,” explained one parent tester. Expert Judge Chris McFadden added: “The quality of video, day and night, is top-class and the stylish monitor feels robust, making this a great-value product I’d highly recommend."

Why it’s a winner: With an impressive 26 separate soothing noises and 7 different night lights, our judges thought the LUMI Portable White Noise Machine Pro Max was a handy and highly effective product in a compact and portable design. With a whole host of useful features for parents and babies including a breathing light that mimics a deep breath, there are also sleep timers allowing you to schedule the machine to turn off when your baby is asleep. Why it’s a winner: The adorable city-themed design, premium, eco-friendly materials, durability ("I would expect it to last a long time," praised one judge), and easy-to-clean nature of this mat made it our clear Gold winner. Both our parent testers and judges loved how versatile the mat is, being easily portable and reversible, offering extended usability – one parent tester even used it as a yoga mat.
