The football ace says that he wants his four children, Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 9, Cruz, 6, and 3-month-old Harper, to be successful in their own right.

“They’ve got a great life set up for them,” he told The Times. “Obviously our boys and little girl are very lucky. But I think, as a parent, you always worry, ‘Have they got that hunger that I had as a kid?’”

The dad-of-four commented that he is following in his own father’s footsteps with his parenting style.

“I’m as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask, ‘Did I play well? I’ll say, ‘You did alright, could have done better.’”

David clearly feels the need to keep his children grounded given their celebrity lifestyle. “The way my dad brought me up, he was strict. I’m exactly the same with my boys. They have their feet on the ground,” he said.

David and Victoria seem to place a huge emphasis on the importance of being hands on parents. “It’s just the way we were brought up as kids; it’s the way we are bringing our kids up,” David adds. “We make sure that the most important thing to us is our family and we’re all grounded.”
