Five month-old identical triplets are set to become Coronation Street's newest - and youngest - cast members. And they will all play the same role! The three babies, called (spoiler alert: look away now if you don't want to know more) Erin, Eilah and Elsie, have been cast to play 13-year-old Faye Windass's baby girl Miley, taking turns in the starring role.

Faye, played by Ellie Leach, will give birth to her baby prematurely in Good Friday's episode. The baby girls were chosen after the soap put a call out to casting agents and put up posters in maternity units asking for identical twin girls to play the newborn.

Parents Laura Slinger and Martyn Halliwell from Padiham near Burnley, put their babies forward after hearing triplets are in high demand for TV. "My cousin, who is a theatre actor, suggested that we should get in touch with an agent. He said 'there is a high demand for twins, let alone triplets'," said proud dad Martyn. "We sent some photos over and within two hours we heard back to say they had a client who was interested. On the Monday we were at Coronation Street."

Martyn, 29, a sales manager, and Laura, 26, a beautician, are thrilled with their daughters' budding acting careers. They say the babies, born on 27 October, are already putting in a great performance.

"Everybody is shocked at how good they are," Martyn said. "One of the triplets cries on cue, so when they need a crying baby we take Elsie down for filming. When they need a calm baby we take Erin."

And Martyn hopes the triplets, who were born 10 weeks early at Liverpool Women's Hospital, have now got a taste for a showbiz career. "Hopefully they will stay on the show if they are enjoying it," he said. "I have grown up watching Coronation Street and so has Laura. They have made us at home and comfortable and everybody is one big family."
