The Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her second baby in April next year. The official confirmation also talked only about a baby not babies, which appears to rule out rumours that Kate was expecting twins.

The news has emerged now that Kate has passed the all-important 12 week point in her pregnancy.

Anything else happening in April 2015?

The birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby may coincide with their 4th wedding anniversary on April 29. Or, the baby may prove a lovely birthday present for the Queen, as she’s due to turn 89 on April 21.

If the baby is late, then he or she may be caught up in the frenzy of the General Election, which is set to take place on May 7.

This means there will be an age gap of around 21 months between George and his younger brother or sister. There are 2 years 2 months between the Princes William and Harry, and 19 months between Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa.

Poor Kate is said to still be suffering from extreme morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum, but the plan is for her to gamely start doing some royal engagements this week. According to the Palace, Kate’s health is steadily improving.
