"Stefan, our baby angel was born! I am so proud of my beautiful wife Jelena! Thank you so much for your love and support. We love you all!!!" the excited new dad tweeted.

The couple announced the pregnancy in April and were married in July, 4 days after Novak won Wimbledon for the second time.

"The birth went in the best possible manner, baby and the mother feel well," a statement on his website reads.

The business-like statement then makes it clear that dad duties won't be interfering with the next Masters tournaments. "Novak will spend the following several days with the baby and his wife Jelena, after which he travels to Paris, where he will compete at the ATP Masters tournament."

Still at least he gets "several days" with his new baby. Focused as ever, the dad-of-1 hasn’t let the birth disrupt his tennis practice ahead of the Masters.

Tweeting a picture of himself on court, he commented: "First practice as a dad. Not a bad hit for an old man."

Tennis insiders believe Stefan’s birth heralds the first time the number 1 and 2 players in the world are both dads. World no 2 Roger Federer has 2 sets of twins with his wife Mirka.
