There's a scary reason why Angelina Jolie cast Vivienne in the movie she's directing
Angelina Jolie has revealed the reason why her daughter Vivienne, 5, was cast in her new film Maleficent.
The 38-year-old admitted she didn’t set out for Vivienne to be an actor. However, Vivienne was the only child actor she could find who wasn’t terrified of her in costume.
Angelina told Entertainment Weekly magazine: “We think it’s fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors. That's not our goal, for Brad and I, at all. But the other 3- and 4-year-old [performers] wouldn’t come near me. It had to be a child that liked me and wasn't afraid of my horns and my eyes and my claws. So it had to be Viv.”
Angelina wears prothetic cheekbones and horns to play Sleeping Beauty’s nemesis.
Even her son Pax, 10, was scared.

She said: “When Pax saw me for the first time, he ran away and got upset - and I thought he was kidding, so I was pretending to chase him until I actually found him crying.”
After the initial scare, Pax recovered enough to star as an extra with his sister Zahara, 8.
“I had to walk by them being very mean,' Angelina explained. 'Of course, I wanted to stop and wink at them.”
Angelina and Brad also have children Maddox, 12, Shiloh, 7 and Vivienne's twin Knox.
