Silver Cross has revealed the prototype of its Sleepover 2 pram - but will it be ready in time for the new royal baby no 2?

We revealed in 2014 that the new Silver Cross buggy is due for release in 2015, and of course Kate Middleton chose a Silver Cross buggy last time.

The Duchess of Cambridge pushed little Prince George around Kensington Gardens in a Silver Cross Sleepover Elegance.

Her pushchair of choice came as no surprise, given Silver Cross' long and royal heritage: it was given a Royal Warrant in the early 20th century and has supplied royal families with both its traditional pram - the Balmoral - and its modern models ever since.

MFM was given a sneak preview of the Sleepover 2 at the Kind & Jugend nursery trade fair at Cologne - and we liked what we saw. The new buggy has been given a more modern look with a curved carrycot, plain hood and removable bumper bar, but manages to retain the iconic coach-built style chassis, white wheels and the luxurious quilted design that Silver Cross is known for.

We don't have the full specs yet, but hope the new version will offer many of the same features as the current Sleepover Elegance, which is forward and rear-facing, travel system compatible, and comes with a carrycot that is suitable for overnight sleeping.

And we'll also have to wait and see if Kate stays with the brand and chooses the Sleepover 2 for her new royal baby.

We'll be roadtesting the Sleepover 2 in the near future - watch this space!
