20 of the best (and worst) celebrity baby names of 2012

Top celebrity baby names of the year revealed (and a few clangers, too!)

Celebrity baby names have a habit of shocking – whether it’s for their clear outrageousness or, conversely, for their surprising normalness.

This year has seen a plethora of new and unusual names, but it’s Noah, son of Transformers star Megan Fox and actor hubby Brian Austin Green that has taken top spot.

A poll* of 2,000 women lead to this wonderful accolade – albeit a bit odd for a baby that’s just 2 months old! Hilary Duff’s son Luca swooped second place and Amanda Holden took third with her second daughter Hollie’s name. A fave amongst mums, Michelle Heaton’s daughter Faith scored a plucky fourth place.

A few celebrity choices appear to have missed the mark with their fans. Take That band member Mark Owen’s choice of moniker, Fox India, failed to impress, while Peaches Geldof’s son Astala was voted the fourth least popular.

A report on the BBC breakfast show today joked that some parents can get a bit caught up in the euphoria of new parent hood and rush into a baby name decision they later regret. According to the report parents are able to change their first name choice within a year, although the surname cannot be changed. Which is perhaps a relief for those who opted for a football team inspired name that has since fallen out of favour.
