April Fools! Celebs go mad for pregnancy fibs
One Direction and Michelle Heaton tricked their Twitter followers with baby news while Olly Murs went his own way
April Fools is normally a day for avoiding toilet seats covered with cling film. But this year, amongst fake stories of tea bags running out and the London Eye to be sped up, the celebs went crazy for a new trend – pretending they’re pregnant.
New Mum Michelle Heaton set Twitter tongues wagging yesterday when she said, “Life is full of surprises… Hope faith is ready for a brother or sister…” It might have worked if she hadn’t quickly followed it with “Sorry guys.. I know, bad April fool!!! Lol”. Although, the cheeky mum did suggest she might go one better and make it real. Hopefully we’ll believe her if she does. You know, crying wolf and all that!
And it wasn’t just the ladies pulling out the pregnancy card. One Direction caused a Twitter meltdown after star Louis Tomlinson tweeted, “Can’t believe I’m going to be a Dad! Wow!!” Adding fuel to a fire bound to have upset half of the nation’s teenage girls, the guys behind the X Factor Twitter account joined in. “We can confirm that @Harry_Styles IS pregnant. If it’s a girl he’s calling it Anne. If it’s a boy, Juan Direction Styles. #HarrysPregnant,” the show joked.
Olly Murs meanwhile missed the memo about this year’s joke of choice and posted a pic of a Manchester United tattoo he’d supposedly had done. Olly admitted a lot of people quickly sussed it out! Perhaps when he joins One Direction on tour he’ll learn a few lessons from the master Twitter-foolers.
