Boy stopped from eating cheese sandwich at nursery
Toddler’s packed lunch was deemed ‘unhealthy’
A toddler had his cheese sandwich removed at nursery after the staff said it violated their healthy eating policy.
Jack Ormisher had his packed lunch taken off him, and his father told to add lettuce or tomato to his sandwiches in future. This way his son would then be allowed to eat them as a snack, rather than ‘lunch’ during nursery time.
The move came after the Westfield Children’s Centre in Wigan drew up a list of healthy eating options for children. “The centre has a list of recommended healthy food, according to national guidelines, which children are encouraged to eat,” said a spokesman for Wigan council. “A cheese sandwich would not feature on the list.”

Jack’s parents have now removed him from the nursery, calling the actions, “pathetic.”
