RD Claudia Winkleman pays tribute to doctors treating her daughter for Halloween burns
The Strictly Come Dancing presenter says Matilda, 8, is on the 'long road to recovery' after trick or treating accident
Claudia Winkleman returned to Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after taking 3 weeks off to care for her daughter who'd been burnt in a Halloween accident. Matilda, 8, was hospitalised after her Halloween costume caught fire while she was trick or treating. It is unknown exactly what injuries Matilda sustained but Claudia says she's on a "long road to recovery".
Ahead of her appearance on Saturday night’s show, the mum-of-3 took to Twitter to thank NHS doctors and nurses for their help. "Hello Twitter," she posted. "Firstly, a huge thank you to the incredible NHS doctors and nurses who are being extraordinary.
"We are bowled over by their kindness and brilliance. Matilda is doing well and although it will be a long road to recovery, she is getting the best possible care. Thank you so much for your lovely messages - they meant everything.
"I'm coming back to Strictly this weekend but am out of practice, so please bear with me."
But Claudia needn’t have been nervous: she received a standing ovation from the audience as she arrived on stage.
Claudia is also mum to Jake, 11, and Arthur, 3, with film producer Kris Thykier.
We’re glad to see you back, Claudia, and we hope Matilda is out of hospital soon.
