After what seemed like a marathon labour, Holly Willoughby finally gave birth to her second baby at 5.10pm yesterday to a little girl – 50 hours after she first went into hospital due to early labour signs.

In true Twitter style, the TV presenter tweeted the news soon after giving birth to let the world know she was calling her new baby, Belle.

From her hospital bed Holly tweeted, “Thank you for all your support these last few days. Belle Baldwin finally arrived at 5:10pm today weighing 5lbs 2oz. She’s amazing. X”

In fact, the tweeting world has been gripped by TV presenter Holly’s labour, watching the story unfold through tweets from Phillip Schofield and Fearne Cotton. Both continued the story, with Phillip tweeting “Holly doing well and a baby gilr is also doing well. Born at 1710 this afternoon. Weighing in at 5lbs 2oz – tiny but a beauty!”

Myleene Klass added her congratulations via Twitter – “Huge Congrats huney and welcome to the world little belle. I bet she’s beautiful…love Myleene, Gray, Ava and Hero.X”

Belle has arrived unexpectedly early, four weeks before her due date of May 13. Holly was still working on This Morning and it was her no-show on Wednesday that prompted all the feverish tweeting from Phillip and Holly’s other friends.

While labour can take a long time, Holly won’t have been in full labour since Tuesday. Indeed, Phillip Schofield backtracked on TV, when he first told This Morning viewers that Holly was in labour, and then later corrected himself saying that they weren’t sure whether she was or wasn’t.

Clearly, though, Holly’s body was preparing itself for the birth and it’s great to hear that both mum and baby appear to be doing well, and Holly will be relieved that even a month early Belle has arrived weighing a health 5lb 2oz.
