The press day had something for everyone young and old. Youngsters could test their driving skills on the Scalextric while the older generation could make an Airfix masterpiece.

If your dad is technology mad, one pressie idea is the Elite train controller and railmaster. You simply plug in the elite via a usb port on your computer and voila, you can control all your favourite trains at your fingertips! That will keep him busy for the day and out of mum’s hair.

For granddad why not give him an Airfix Red Arrows model set to keep him entertained this Christmas? It will stop him from eating all the mince pies.

If your little boy is Thomas the Tank Engine mad there is a great Thomas and friends electric train set. Watch him pretend he is the fat controller.

Young film fans can own their very own Lightening McQueen. The Cars 2 characters have been immortalised into a Scarextric set, the perfect present for any racing fanatic.

The countdown to London 2012 has already started and Hornby has got into the Olympic spirit. Older kids can control their own exclusive Scalextric Velodrome Cycling set and make sure they win that gold medal. But if you’re just looking for a small keepsake you can collect the special range of London 2012 Great British Classic Vehicles. It features the iconic classic mini, routemaster, black cab and Concorde.
