Kim Kardashian reveals celebrity reasons for North's name
North West can thank two showbiz friends of parents Kim and Kanye for her unusual name
Kim Kardashian has revealed that rapper Pharrell Williams and American Vogue editor Anna Wintour are the reason they called their daughter North!
Speaking to GQ magazine, doting mum Kim said that she and Kanye had never intended to use the moniker for their first born, despite the web being awash with rumours that it was a done deal. However, a chance meeting with Pharrell and Anna changed their minds.
“It was a rumour in the press and we'd never really considered it seriously, at all, but Kanye and I were having lunch about a year ago and Pharrell came over to us and said 'Oh, my God, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name,'” Kim says.
The then mum-to-be told Pharrell it was 'just a rumour', but when Anna Wintour also dropped by their table and said the name was 'genius' the pair gave it some more thought.
“Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck,” Kim explained.
