Kate Silverton's new baby – and other new celeb baby arrivals
It's been quite a week for celeb births, with TV newsreader Kate Silverton, supermodel Erin O’Connor and actress Jessica Jane Clement all sharing pics of their newborns
Baby Wilbur makes headlines
BBC news reader Kate Silverton only gave birth to her baby boy last week – but she just couldn’t wait to share this picture of him on Twitter.
“Gorgeous morning all - Introducing #Wilbur our little ray of sunshine x,” she tweeted.
Kate, and husband Mike Heron's, second child was born on Thursday.
The couple already have a little girl, Clemency Florence, 2.
"Yes, just to say our little boy was born in the early hours of Thursday weighing 8lbs 3oz – we are just home and all very well indeed," the 43-year-old tweeted.
"His name is Wilbur – after the man who first inspired my love of #Africa and its wildlife," she added, referring to the bestselling South African writer Wilbur Smith.
The birth wasn't complete plain sailing, Kate revealed, as, when contractions started, Wilbur was in a 'back-to-back' position – which can make labour pains more painful. But Kate says that, thanks to her midwife, she was able to give birth without intervention, as she'd planned.
"Wilbur was 'persistent occiput posterior' – 'dreaded' position for many midwives but not Jenny – and we managed without intervention #indebted," Kate tweeted.
