Man becomes dad, grandad and great-grandad within three months
Three generations of women in the same family give birth in the same year
A UK man has become a dad, grandad and great-grandad all within the space of three months.
Patrick Sloan, 60, has welcomed the birth of his fourth child, his grandson and his first great-grandchild, after his wife, daughter and granddaughter all gave birth to boys, reports the Mirror.
“It was a huge surprise to discover I was going to be a dad again at my age,” Patrick said.
“But to find out that I was gaining another grandchild and my first great-grandchild at a similar time was unbelievable,” he added.
Patrick’s wife Joanne, 39, gave birth to their son Ethan in March this year. His great-grandson Mason was born in June, followed by his grandson, Leonard, just 12 days later.

“It was a bit of a shock to the system at first but I wouldn’t swap being a new dad again for the world,” he said.
“Ethan is a little treasure and makes me smile every single day.”
Not long after Patrick and Joanne, 39, revealed they were expecting, Patrick’s daughter Odette, 35, who already had two children announced that she and partner Ben, 31, were also having a baby.
“It was just a very funny coincidence that me and Dad were going to become parents again at the same time,” Odette explained.
A few weeks later there was more baby news for the family as Odette’s daughter, Fern, 18, revealed that she was also pregnant.
“We were all very shocked. I suddenly realised I was going to be a dad, grandad and a great-grandad in a short period of time,” said Patrick.
Odette said: “It was strange knowing I was pregnant at the same time as my daughter and my mother-in-law. But I knew I could help Fern and be there for her when she needed me.”
Patrick revealed that, although he is already dad to three grown-up children, Ethan’s is the first birth he has been present at.
“It was the first time that I had been at the birth of any of my children,” Patrick said.
“When the other three came along over 30 years ago, dad’s weren’t allowed in the labour suite,” he claimed.
“It was wonderful to see Ethan enter the world and hold him in my arms for the first time.”
“Ethan has given me a new lease of life and is my pride and joy. And to have a new grandson and my first great-grandchild at the same time is just the icing on the cake.”
