Peppa Pig forced to wear a seatbelt
TV fave to belt up after complaints from parents
Peppa Pig is to wear a seat belt in future episodes, after parents complained over worries their children might want to copy her by not wearing one themselves.
In some episodes of the popular toddler series, star of the show, Peppa, and her brother, George, are seen sitting in the back of a car without belts. Animation company Astley Baker Davies has said they will re-animate the first series to reflect the change, introducing car seats and belts to the old scenes.
“We were very naïve when we started making Peppa,” said her co-founder Mark Baker. “If we could turn the clock back, we would, as everything Peppa does reflects a child’s real world.”
Despite the car seat changes, it has not yet been decided if Peppa will wear a helmet when she rides her bike, even though she does don a life jacket when she travels on a boat.
