The new Disney | Dulux Easycare collection features eight colour pairings designed to help families create a bedroom that reflects their child’s personality, whether that means a soft, calming backdrop or a bolder feature wall inspired by their favourite character.
And it seems children could have plenty of ideas of their own. New research commissioned by Dulux found that almost 60% of parents believe their child would decorate their bedroom differently if given complete creative freedom.

Whether your child loves Elsa’s icy aesthetic, Stitch’s playful personality or the adventures of Woody and Buzz, the pairings offer a way to bring a little of that inspiration into their own space without relying solely on character-themed accessories.
Why parents are rethinking children's bedrooms
The launch comes as parents increasingly see children's rooms as spaces that can be both practical and stylish.
Dulux's research, conducted by OnePoll among 2,000 parents in the UK and Ireland with children aged 0 to 13, found that 37% believe children's bedrooms today are more stylish and design-led than when they were growing up.
Meanwhile, 31% of parents want their child's bedroom to feel playful without looking overly childish, highlighting the balancing act between creating a fun space now and choosing a look that will last as children grow.
The research also suggests that colour could play a role in encouraging creativity. Some 38% of parents believe a child's surroundings can encourage them to be more creative, while 33% say colourful surroundings can help inspire their imagination.
And if children had complete control over their room's design, 27% of parents think they would base it around their hobbies and interests. A further 24% believe their child would choose their favourite colour for the walls, while 21% expect brighter colours or a design inspired by a favourite character.
How to use colour in a child's bedroom
If you're keen to try something more adventurous but aren't sure where to start, Dulux's Creative Director and Colour Expert, Marianne Shillingford, says it doesn't have to mean painting every wall in a bright shade.
“When it comes to decorating children’s bedrooms, it can be tempting to play it safe, particularly when you’re thinking about creating a space they won’t quickly grow out of. But a child’s bedroom is also their own little space. It’s somewhere they can play, create and express their personality - and colour can bring that to life.
“Using colour doesn’t have to mean covering every wall in the brightest shade you can find. A softer colour can create the backdrop, with bolder shades introduced through painted shapes, details or feature areas. It’s about finding a balance that works for your home while still giving children a space that feels distinctly theirs.”
For parents who want to involve their children without committing to a full room transformation, a colourful feature wall or a painted section behind a bed could be a good starting point. Choosing a softer main colour and adding brighter accents can also make it easier to adapt the room as their tastes change.
What parents need to know about the new Dulux collection
The shades are part of the Disney | Dulux Easycare range of wall and ceiling paints, which are designed to be tough, washable and stain-resistant, a practical consideration for busy family homes.
The colours are available in two tin sizes:
- 2.5-litre tins: Calmer pastel shades, suited to background walls and larger spaces.
- 1.25-litre tins: Deeper, more vibrant colours, designed for accent walls and smaller creative details.
The complementary shades can be used together to create a coordinated look, whether you're planning a full bedroom refresh or simply adding a splash of colour.
