This £5 Christmas gift box transforms into a magical festive play scene, but only 10,000 are being made

My 1st Years has launched a limited-edition Christmas gift box that turns into a reusable festive play scene, with just 10,000 available.

Christmas presents are exciting, but for kids, sometimes the box they arrive in is just as much fun. Every parent will have spent money on at least one flashy toy only to watch on in dismay as their child plays with the cardboard box it came in instead!

And, this Christmas one brand is giving the festive wrapping box the spotlight it deserves by making it even more magical for little ones.

My 1st Years has launched its limited-edition My Little Elf Box, a special Christmas gift box that transforms into an enchanting festive play scene once the presents have been unwrapped.

Priced at just £5 as an upgrade to the brand's standard luxury gift packaging, the box is designed to be kept, played with and brought out again each Christmas. But there's a catch for families who love a festive find: just 10,000 are being made, and there are no plans to restock.

What's included in the Little Elf Box?

My first years elf characters

At first glance, the My Little Elf Box looks like a traditional red Christmas present, complete with an illustrated blue ribbon and handwritten-style gift tag.

But open it up and there's a lovely surprise waiting inside. The packaging unfolds to reveal a festive world featuring a cosy Christmas room, complete with stockings, toys and a decorated tree, alongside a snowy North Pole landscape.

There are also three mischievous little elves and Santa himself, who pop up to bring the scene to life and inspire imaginative play.

A stylish and sustainable way to do Christmas wrapping

It's a clever way to give Christmas packaging a second life, rather than seeing it disappear with the wrapping paper on Boxing Day.

Unlike traditional gift boxes, which often end up in the recycling, the My Little Elf Box has been designed to be enjoyed long after Christmas morning.

Families can use it as a backdrop for festive stories and imaginative games throughout December, then pack it away with the decorations ready to make another appearance next year.

The box itself isn't personalised, but it provides a special setting for the personalised presents inside, helping to make each gift feel that little bit more magical.

To get one, customers simply need to select the My Little Elf Box upgrade at checkout when shopping on the My 1st Years website.

Families can get involved in naming the elves

There's another festive treat planned to celebrate the launch, with My 1st Years inviting families to help name the three elves through a TikTok competition in November.

The winning entry will receive a Christmas Gift Box filled with festive goodies from the brand.

And the elves won't be staying inside the box, either. They'll also appear in animated form across the brand's social media channels, with families able to follow their adventures and join in using the hashtag #MyLittleElfBox.

My 1st Years festive pop-up in London

For families who want to experience the festive design in person, My 1st Years is also bringing the magic to Selfridges London.

A special pop-up installation, opening on 9 November 2026, will recreate the My Little Elf Box at full size, allowing visitors to step inside the festive world themselves.

The campaign will also encourage families to share how the box becomes part of their own Christmas celebrations using #TheBoxIsTheGift.

The limited-edition My Little Elf Box costs £5 and is available as an optional upgrade when placing an online order with My 1st Years.

Here's what families need to know:

Once all 10,000 boxes have sold, the design won't be produced again.

And while £5 might seem like a small extra to spend on gift packaging, the idea is that families will get to enjoy it for years to come.

After all, sometimes the best part of a Christmas present isn't just what's inside, but the memories made once it's opened.
