Thai Square Spa pregnancy massage – review

A bit of me-time is essential during pregnancy and a head massage is the ideal way to relax

Thai Square Spa in London is an oasis of calm amid the general hubbub of London life. Tucked away just minutes from Covent Garden, this little drop of paradise feels a million miles from home.

On arrival I was offered a cup of herbal tea from the extensive menu and settled in with their generous pile of magazines. Afterwards, I was shown downstairs and helped out of my shoes and into cosy slippers.

While my treatment was a pregnancy head massage, I was asked to change into a robe, so that my feet could be massaged, too (bliss!).

My therapist settled me into a chair and poured warm water into a large bowl. My feet were gently scrubbed and massaged, before thick luxurious cream was rubbed in.

I was then carefully moved onto the massage table, in a position that suited my bump and general pregnancy aches. The therapist targeted tension in my shoulders with a gentle but firm massage.

Warm oil was then used on my hair, with each strand carefully covered from root to tip. Once all of my hair was covered in the deliciously fragrant oil, the therapist massaged my scalp and lower neck.

Calm music played throughout and it was a blissful way to spend just under an hour. A great choice if you’re not keen to have your bump touched and don’t want lots of scrubs and showers in between. It was nice not to have to move.

I was offered more tea in the comfort of my slippers and robe, then given access to a shower, complete with shampoo, body wash and a hair dryer to ready myself to face the world again. Perfect.
