The Babymoov Moov & Hike is a structured hiking baby carrier designed for longer walks and outdoor adventures with older babies and toddlers.

Unlike soft structured carriers designed for everyday use, framed hiking carriers like the Moov & Hike are built to support longer walks and heavier toddlers more comfortably.

Suitable from around 6 months up to 18kg (around 4 years old), it features an adjustable Physiohike seat to support healthy hip positioning, breathable padding for comfort and a QuickFit system for easy adjustment between parents.

Retailing at £209, the Babymoov Moov & Hike sits competitively within the framed hiking carrier category, especially considering the included extras such as built-in storage pockets, a detachable 10-litre bag, a fold-out UV and water-repellent sunshade and the stable PopStand loading foot.

How easy is the Babymoov Moov & Hike to put on?

The carrier is pretty straightforward to get on and off solo, with a little bit of practice! My 14-month old weighs around 12.5kg and is also quite tall for her age, around the 98th percentile, and so I had to be careful lifting the carrier up and onto my shoulders. There are handles to help you pull it up into position, as well as carefully lift back down. Although the carrier itself weighs just 3.6kg, I would prefer help lifting it on as my child grew or if the storage pockets were full as it is a large carrier to lift up and onto your back.

There are lots of different straps, clips and adjustments to ensure this carrier is comfortable for both you and your baby. After reading the instruction manual, it took some time to play around with these to get them in the right positions, but they are all quite intuitive and once adjusted, it made for a very comfortable carry. You can adjust the shoulder straps, waistband, chest strap and load retaining straps, and the carrier also features a handy QuickFit adjustment which changes the position of the shoulder straps so I could easily swap with my husband. The patented PopStand system keeps the carrier steady on the ground and can be easily folded back in with one pull of the cord.

What age range is the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier suitable for?

The sizing of this carrier is accurate, and would be suitable for a baby from around 6 months old to around 18kg. Again, I think some assistance would be beneficial to get the carrier on/off for use at the higher weight limit, but once all the straps are in the correct position it would be comfortable for both parent and child.

How comfortable is the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier for you?

The carrier is really comfortable to walk around with and the weight feels evenly distributed. The shoulder straps, waist band and back panel are all well-padded and covered with a breathable mesh material making it suitable for longer wear, especially on uneven terrain or on hotter days.

How comfortable is the Babymoov Moov & Hike for your child?

The adjustable Physiohike child seat was really comfortable for my daughter, and her legs and hips looked well-supported with plenty of room for her to grow. At 14-months old, my daughter is keen to explore but not quite ready to be walking long distances herself, so this style of carrier is ideal for her age as she can enjoy an elevated view with a little space from me (compared to other carriers) yet still felt comfortable enough to fall asleep for a nap in it.

The carrier features generous padding both at the front and the back headrest, creating a soft, cushioned cradle for a child’s head. The dummy clip was also handy and she could pop her dummy in and out herself, and avoid dropping it on the floor. Whilst she didn’t love getting in the carrier as I fiddled with the straps, once on my back she very much enjoyed the ride and I felt she was safe and secure in it.

How adjustable is the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier?

I was most impressed by how versatile this carrier is — both myself and my husband could wear it comfortably. Both the shoulder straps and the waist band have plenty of room to fit different sizes with ease.

The QuickFit adjustment system allows you to change the back length to six different heights, and the waist band, shoulder straps and chest strap are very easy to adjust. I found the load retaining straps one of the most beneficial – located at the top of the shoulder straps and connected to the upper frame, they help to fine tune the fit by pulling the child’s weight closer to your body and reducing strain on your shoulders and lower back.

How breathable is it?

We tested the carrier on several walks and also on a family day out in 25-degree heat. The mesh fabric provided good airflow which meant both my baby and I stayed cool even on warmer days, so I’d be happy to use this carrier again throughout the summer months.

It would work just as well for winter, too, as there is plenty of room to adjust the straps to fit over clothing for both me and baby.

How does the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier perform for hiking and outdoor use?

I took the Moov & Hike carrier out on local walks, across countryside paths, nature trails and fields with lots of varied terrain.

It was very comfortable to wear, and when the shoulder straps rubbed slightly I was able to adjust them easily and continue without an issue. The breathable back panel gave me good support, and my baby enjoyed the views from higher up.

I really liked that the carrier allowed me to be hands-free and explore the area with my 3-year old without having to lug around an additional changing bag. We packed snacks and drinks which kept cool in the insulated pocket which I was able to access without taking the carrier off. When the sun came out, I was able to attach the sunshade which provided ample protection in the middle of the day.

How practical is the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier for everyday use?

The carrier is great for going on walks, hikes and family days out. I would wear it for a school run, particularly so I could be hands-free for an older child, though I would probably prefer to use a lighter, simpler carrier if I was just nipping out.

How practical is the Babymoov Moov & Hike carrier for storage, portability and extras?

The Babymoov Moov & Hike has a patented PopStand foot folding system, allowing you to fold down the supporting foot whilst wearing the carrier by pulling on a cord until you hear a click.

It also includes plenty of storage, so you won't need to carry an additional bag on shorter outings. There are three slip pockets around the child’s seat, a zip pocket on the back to house the sunshade, two zip pockets on the waistband, a hidden compartment for a water bladder and a removable bag underneath which has a 10L capacity as well as an insulated pocket. The carrier also comes with a dummy clip within easy reach for your child.

Unfolded, the carrier measures 89x70x41cm, whilst folded it is 22x76x41cm so fits comfortably in the boot of a car and weighs just 3.6kg so can be carried easily. It would be good if it could fold even smaller for storage, though you wouldn’t want to compromise on the robustness of this design.

How easy is the Babymoov Moov & Hike to clean and maintain?

The head cushion, dummy clip, and 10-litre detachable bag are machine washable at 30°C, though I have not needed to try this yet.

The child seat section is hand washable, which when testing with a 14-month old had to be wiped down after first use and fortunately came clean very easily. The seat caught crumbs from my daughter’s snacks but could be shaken out easily.

The design feels very durable and this carrier is made from recycled and GRS-certified polyester fabric. It came in a cardboard box, ready-assembled with very minimal packaging.

Babymoov advertises this carrier as a repairable product and has a lifetime guarantee, so would be suitable for use across multiple children. It’s a smart investment for eco-conscious families who want quality gear that lasts.

MadeForMums verdict:

Whilst I’ve worn lots of carriers with my children, this is the first outdoor hiking-specific carrier that I’ve tried out. I was impressed by how many features it included, and how comfortable it was to wear once on.

I would recommend it for outdoorsy families who like to go on big walks or days out, and it would be comfortable for babies from around aged 6 months to 18kg (around 4 years old).
