Albert and Little Henry
Jez Albrough is one of the best children’s author/illustrators around today and his books are always warm and reassuring. His latest, Albert and Little Henry is certainly no exception. Albert is a big dog now and is good at lots of things, but when his little brother Henry comes along, people seem to stop noticing him and he begins to feel smaller and smaller. This is the perfect picture book for young children… especially when there might be a new sibling on the way.

No More Cuddles
Jane Chapman is another of the nation’s favourite children’s authors and her new book, No More Cuddles, doesn’t disappoint. Everyone loves to be cuddled, but ‘snuggly wuggly’ Barry has had enough. He hides away deep in the forest just to have a bit of time to himself, but it’s not long before the other creatures find him and demand he gives them a cuddle. This is a really amusing tale about someone searching for a little ‘me time’. Sound familiar?

For people of a certain age Bod was one of the most memorable children’s TV series of the 1970s. Now Bod is back to delight a whole new generation. Bod’s Apple by original authors Joanne and Michael Cole is the first story to get a makeover. Bod’s friends are wondering what Bod, who is just staring at a tree, is up to. When he explains that he is waiting for an apple to fall, they decide to wait too. Yes, it is slightly surreal but my daughter was immediately fascinated by the eccentric cast of characters.
