Pros

  • Easy to assemble, easy to clean, lasts up to 12 years (or 100kg)

Cons

  • Removable baby tray can be a little restrictive, doesn't fold

It’s simple to use, easy to clean and looks pretty stylish too. Add in the fact that this is a highchair to see your child through to 12 years of age and the clever Nuna ZAAZ begins to look like a real contender, as long as the tray isn’t too restrictive for your baby.

The Nuna ZAAZ highchair is instantly likeable. With a simple, neat, contemporary structure and modern colour scheme it looks innovative and fresh.

Boasting a removable baby tray, a toddler barrier, a 5-point harness that turns into a 3-point harness and a hidden lever behind the footrest that adjusts the height, the ZAAZ is set to turn from baby highchair to junior chair with a few simple clicks. It really is quite clever.

The uncomplicated design means there’s very little excuse for a messy chair. There are no annoying crevices, and as the comfortable air foam cushion lifts up there really is nowhere for the crumbs to hide.

What we love

I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but as soon as I saw the Nuna ZAAZ highchair I was smitten. It looks thoroughly modern, has a simple design and looked easy to clean. We have the smart plum colour, which looks perfect against our wooden table and I can imagine would suit many settings. And thankfully, it’s not a matter of style over substance.

Firstly, the ZAAZ highchair is so simple to put together - we didn’t even need instructions. In fact, the ZAAZ is a pleasure to assemble as in just a few clicks it’s up and ready, much to the delight of my 18-month-old daughter, Heidi, who couldn’t wait to try it. She instantly enjoyed it and, testament to the chair, it was quite a while before we got her out again.

We’ve taken the tray off as it’s a bit of a tight squeeze and sat Heidi up at the table with toddler barrier intact. She’s so happy and engaged at dinner time I’m sure she eats better than usual. The air foam cushion looks very comfortable and she sits nice and upright to enjoy her food.

With a simple design comes a great benefit – no crevices for crumbs. My previous highchair needed constant cleaning and disassembling. Heidi is quite independent when it comes to eating, but at 18 months that can only mean one thing - mess. The Nuna ZAAZ handles this extremely well. The only crevice I can’t reach is at the bottom of the toddler barrier, but I soon realised you can lift the cushion, which enables you to wipe the stray crumbs away. Lovely.

I’m really pleased with the ZAAZ and am even thinking of buying one for my older toddler, Tippi.

What to watch out for

The tray isn’t adjustable so it can be a tight squeeze for some little ones. The tray comes off as your child grows for up-to-the-table feeding, but it depends on how long you want to keep the tray on for.

The toddler barrier can also be quite difficult to get your little one into sometimes if they won’t straighten their legs, but you can always put it on after they’re in.

If I’m being picky, there’s no tray underneath, which I like to use for storing muslins, and there isn’t a recline feature, which to be fair I’ve never used but some parents might like. Also, it doesn’t fold away.

Who is the Nuna ZAAZ highchair best for?

Parents who want longevity, style and practicality.

Nuna has created a contemporary highchair that looks stylish, is practical, and can see your child from babyhood to 12 years. The ZAAZ is simple to use, easy to clean and clever enough to adapt to your child’s needs whatever stage they’re at. The tray can be restrictive for some little ones so as usual it’s good to try before you buy.
