Six weeks after giving birth, I’m getting fed up with my functional breastfeeding wardrobe of loose tops and sensible bras, so it’s a pleasure to wear pretty underwear for a change. I love the attractive print of the Anita Rose Illusion Nursing Bra and the little bow on the front. Being able to wear matching knickers rather than practical Bridget Jones pants is an added bonus.
The cups of the bra are easy to open when my baby Katie needs feeding, and because they’re lined with seam-free cotton, the bra feels comfortable to wear, even on days when my nipples feel tender.
The foam lined straps add to the comfort, and would be a particular asset to well endowed mums.
What to watch out for
Sadly, this bra lets me down when it comes to practicality. The padded cups make my boobs look weirdly out of proportion, and tend to pop up when I’m feeding and get in Katie’s way.
I struggle with closing the cups after breastfeeding. Only the front of the cup drops down, leaving a triangular shaped frame of fabric around your breast, and I often get the drop cup caught up in the frame when I try to close it.
My breast pads keep slipping out of the gap between the cup and the frame, too.
